Cask conditioned at The Anchor, Birmingham. Amber with white head. There is quite a sharp, grassy, slightly metallic edge to this, like drinking a ferrous material. There is also a grassy hop note with decent depth so not too bad apart from the metallic note.

Copper colour. It smells a bit stale mixed with some herbs. Flavour is quite herbal but some toasty malts come through too. The herbal elements of this beer make it unpleasant. Has a really dry finish, too dry.

Average relatively easy drinking golden ale. Floral nose, inoffensive malty flavour.

Old Fountain. Clear gold beer, tidy white head. Light smooth palate, semi dry. Nice hops, orange then something a bit more exotic. Gooseberry like with a touch of mango. Trace of lemon and kiwi. Semi dry finish. Mild bitter aftertaste. Really nice.

Cask-conditioned at Bucks and Berks Beeriodical, Seven Stars, Bristol May 2012. Deep gold with a decent white head. Citrus fruit, plenty of hop character, solid malts, a hint of spice and lingering, bitter finish. Good.

Cask @ The Gunmakers. Light amber color with a frothy head. The faint nose has notes of tea biscuit, light grass, hints of what I’d generously call sea grass. The taste is light tobacco, some summer fruits and plenty of biscuity malt. Smooth drinking, uncomplicated and soft. Overall, a pretty middle-of-the-road pint for me. Nothing to see here.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Amber with a tight cream head; malty aroma with a touch of spice; malty body with some citrus; and a pleasantly sharp bitterness to finish. Simple stuff, but a nice summer pint.
