3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Keg at the Royal Standard of England, nr Beaconsfield. Gold with a moderate white head and a rather prickly mouthfeel that (before it eventually diminishes) rather obscures the otherwise pleasantly soft mouthfeel. The flavour is grassy with floral hints and sweet malts behind. It’s all quite gentle and simple but pretty pleasant overall for a lager.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Keg at the brewery, golden with a fine head, malty and bready, crisp hops, seems more like a slightly hoppier Helles to me.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear golden with a small white head. Woody aroma with flowery hops. Flavor is bittersweet with some wood and honey flowery hops. Medium palate easy drinking but interesting. Not your typical pils

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Keg at the Lazy Fox, Fulham. Clear yellow, extra frothy due to my crappy pour at the pub’s self-service beer wall. Lemon, grain, bit of peach and pine in the bouquet. Sweet taste, slight bitter in the finish. Hint of tropical fruit bitter aftertaste. Yummy.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Waitrose, Golden yellow colour, thin initial head. Slightly hoppy aroma. Crisp enough, moderate bitterness. Doesn’t have the soft mouth feel or rich hoppiness of the better examples of this style, a bit thin. Something slightly meaty in the finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Backlog rating. Cask at The Gun Winter Ale Festival, London. It pours a pale straw color with a small white head. Aroma is fresh and hoppy with notes of grass, grains, hay, citrus peel and leaves. Taste is grainy and grassy, quite flavoursome with notes of brad dough, biscuit malts, grassy hops and a citric grainy dry bitter finish. Very refreshing. Light bodied and well carbonated. Overall, tasty

On keg at Hamilton Hall (JDW), Liverpool St. Pours golden with bright white head. Dry tasting pilsner, bog standard for this style. Disappointing.
