Aroma: Biscuit, earth, wood, stewed tea and a hint of citrus.

Appearance: Clear amber body with a thin white head that fades. Light carbonation. Few lacing marks.

Taste: Caramel, biscuit, tea and lime. Subtle and well balanced with a bitter finish.

Palate: Thin body with a light, oily texture. Soft carbonation.

Overall: It’s quite nice, but this beer doesn’t seem to know what it is. It’s listed as an American Pale Ale, the description refers to it as an IPA, and it tastes (to me anyway) like a well hopped Bitter. On a side note, the bottle branding is very nice.

Cask at The Shore Inn, Portsoy. It pours amber with a thick off-white head. The nose is soft citrus fruit, wood, cooked apple and a touch of caramel. The taste is earth, wood, leather, decent bitterness, orange and tangerine with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Not really an APA, but a tasty beverage nonetheless.

Amber, slight haze, dense thin white head, good lacing
Aroma - light cereal malts, touch of hay, very soft citrus hops
Taste - Dryish bitter hops, very bready malts, white bread, very slight smoke, dab of fruity malts, hint of toasted malt, touch of orange, some bitter zest, unusual take on the style
Palate - Medium body, some tang on the palate. Particularly dry finish, dryish toffee and biscuit in the linger, touch of jam, also some bitter hops, bit powdery too, quite a complex finish.
Overall - It was the bready malt that surprised me with this and it has a complex finish. Not a lot of citrus/fruit flavour/aroma hop, more bitter hops, Doesn’t come across as typical APA, but there isn’t anything wrong with that.
