Cask, Delnashaugh, Ballindalloch. Pours hazy, amber. Aroma has a fruity accent. Light body and bitterness, has some biscuity malts. It’s basically a bitter. Quite yeasty, doesn’t quite come together but an ok pint.

500ml bottle from Alesela. Pours clear pale amber, thin white head. Aromas of stewed black tea, light orange citrus, toffee. Taste has more of the same, a subtle but growing bitterness. Heavier on the caramel-sweet side of things though. Medium body, oily texture, bitter finish. OK.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask at Number 27, Inverness, 18/10/13.
Clear golden with a good sized white head, good lacing ensues.
Nose is bitter fruit, light spice, orange, grass, caramel.
Taste comprises orange pith, melon, grass, caramel malt, soft bread dough.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation.
This would be a decent golden blond but doesn’t resemble an APA much, not enough hop presence, the excellent conditioning at Number 27 probably upped my score a bit also!

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask conditioned at York Beer Festival ’13. Hazy gold with no head. Quite a thin, rather watery beer, weak on the palate. I’m sorry to say, I didn’t get the citrus hops really, there was a little bitterness otherwise zilch. Not keen.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Has a soft malt aroma, and a great copper body with modest head that has staying power. Flavour is a decent mix of malts softly and hops with a wet finish. A very sessionable beer.
