Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. Very dark brown in colour with ruby red highlights and a thin tan head. It has rich currant, liquorice, chocolate and christmas cake flavours with burnt toffee and vanilla on the warming finish. A very nice Winter Warmer!

Cask at Number 27 in Inverness. Dark ruby pour with tight tan head that left decent lacing but otherwise dissipated. Aromas of dark fruit and Chooclate. Taste was a touch metallic with a bitter finish. Not bad at all.

Cask at Draft House. Very dark brown, nearly black. Decent foamy off-white head leaves thin, pale lacing. Aroma is sweet and yeasty with some wet dog and chocolate. Body is medium, low carbonation, slightly foamy. Taste is light smoke and ash, overly sweet banana skin element (which I hate in many similar beers) is softer here and obscured by the smoke, which makes the finish bearable. Could be better.

Bottle. Smooth roasty beginning. Fresh, malty with a nice smooth roasted body. The aftertaste is smooth malty, roasted with a velvet-like mouthfeel! Great!

Bottle. Pours deep dark amber. Chocolate and licorice nose, roasty. Nice bitterness with oaky whisky tones. Nice warmth from alcohol. Licorice aftertaste, malty. Bitter. My favourite of their beers. The limited barrel aged version of this is even better.

Idiosynkrasie (4376) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JUL 9, 2014
500ml bottle. Clear, chestnut colour with average, thick, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Dark malty aroma is slightly chocolately, fruity notes of red berries, a minimally earthy and foliage touch. Taste is dark malty, notes of liquorice, red berries, a earthy, minimally herbal touch; slightly sticky palate. Very coherent, harmonious - really nice.

mile (3207) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 3, 2014
Bottle. Dark amber, small to average and fully diminishing head. Moderate malty and sweetish aroma, some caramel and light roasted malt, faint dark fruits, faint alcohol. Body is medium to full, malty and sweetish aroma, some caramel and faint fruitiness, light alcohol. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, some caramel and light roasted malt with faint chocolate, light hoppyness, light alcohol. Bit one-dimensional, lacks character and body. Could use more bitterness to balance alcohol and caramel sweetness.

cask at number 27, inverness, march 2014. looks like a middling porter or 80,- but amazing whisky caramel nose lets you know you are in for something interesting...first taste had me thinking of duchess, maredsous and sour reds in general but that’s not really the right ballpark at all. very subdued chocolate which is nice for a change, allows the yeasty funkiness to emerge. only niggle is a slightly flat palate. the booziness really works in the Wolf’s favour. will be keeping an eye out for this one again.
