Bottled. Hazy copper colour, mid sized head. Roasty and fruity. Mid sweet with full body and soft mouthfeel. Mellow flavours of chocolate and a shiff of smoke licorice. Long balanced bitter finish. Rich and harmonious.

Bottle. An almost clear looking dark reddish brown beer with a dense, finger-thick light beige colored head. Some curtains. The aroma has diacetyl, dried fruits, some roasted malts and a chocolate touch. Caramel. Some faint notes of butterscotch in the flavor too, Quite hop bitter, with a piney hint in the back. It’s full-bodied and semi-dry, pleasantly carbonated. Lasting roasted, caramel finish with a fine bitterness and some diacetyl notes. Except for the diacetyl it’s a decent beer, but there’s nothing impressive going on. 150131

Dark brown, rich burnt toffee aroma - quite appetizing. Fairly strong-tasting with complex dark malts, rich sugars, complex dark caramelized things like the top of creme brulee. One of the few Scottish Ales I’ve ever had in Scotland.

Cask at Number 27, Inverness, 19/10/13. Mahogony brown with a good sized light beige head. Nose is dark fruits, spice, bready malt, fruit cake. Taste comprises fruit cake mix, dates, light spice, dates, raisens, toffee, yeasty notes - Belgian feel to them. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate with a fruity spicey tang in the finish. Decent stuff, I was thinking more a Belgian style wise!?

Cask conditioned at York Beer Festival ’13. Dark brown with slight head. This proved to be rather tart and fruity with a background bitterness. Some chocolate perhaps but slightly disappointing.

500ml bottle picked up at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Clear rosewood coloured body. Decent off-white head with good retention and solid lacing. Good looking, indeed. Slightly smoked malty nose, mid-sweet dark malts as well. Similar malt driven taste of roasted grainy malts, earth and ash. Medium bodied. A likable all-malty beer, a little unvaried perhaps (Tromsø 07.02.2015).
