apple juice / maraschino cherry / fruit cocktail nose. candied and plasticy smelling red malt. has decent carbonation froth and a medium-light body, though not great malt support. mostly sweet basic red malt flavor with a slight toastiness in the finish, but it suffers from feeling syrupy and a bit tart as well, and the late toast turns more towards burnt caramel syrup and ashtray.

Tap at Winkler Brauwirt. Hazy orange amber with a white lacing head. Light fruity grain aroma. Fullbodied fruity, very chewy grain base with a solid, light salted hop offering. Dry peppery finish, herbal hop aftertaste. Moreish.

Hazy orange-amber. Rustic yeasty-bready aroma with a bit of toastiness. Earthy, cookieish malt with more spritz than I’d probably prefer. This detracts from the body and malt sugars, especially in the finish.

Draft @ brewery. Milky red-orange with white, thick lasting foam. Aroma is wort, dough, very rustic and unfinished yet pure. Fairly thick palate. Filled with yeasty goodness. Pretty big flavors. Lots of bread, lingering dough and bread flavors and a healthy dose of hop for a nice crisp finish. Very nice.

Draft. A slightly hazy orange beer with a fluffy white head. The aroma is freshly hoppy with notes of citrus and grass. The flavor is sweet and quite hoppy wiht citrus notes, leading to a quite bitter end with a light off-note of metal or butter.

Tap, at the brewpub, November 2006. Faintly hazy gold moderate sustained white head low condition. Pleasant sweet grainy notes in the nose, soft sweet malt with a solid balancing hop bitterness in the mouth and a gentle malty sweet finish.

(On tap) Slightly hazy pilsener golden with a dense, white head with good retention. Again a fairly sweet malt character and some lightly floral aroma hops leaving a discreet bitterness. I wonder if this is simply the unfiltered version of Ur-Hell? 131106
