Commercial Description:
Cockney Imperial Stout was born at the request of Mike Wilson, publican and proprietor of Cockney Pub in Århus. Mike talked Niels Jørn into brewing a whole batch of a rich, dark, very strong stout exclusively for his pub. The stout went like wildfire, and 800 litres were sold from a single tap in the small pub in just 5 weeks! Rumors of this amazing stout spread to the rest of the country, convincing Niels that this smooth, black beer should be a constant in the WinterCoat selection. It, like many of WinterCoat's strong beers, goes down deceivingly smoothly.

DBF 2005. Jet black, thin beige head and gentle condition. Pleasant sweet liquorice and burnt malt in the nose, sweet coffee and low roasted barley in the mouth with a slight phenolic smokiness, full buttery finish with lingering coffee notes.

Thank you to Anders37 for this brew. Served room Temp. From bottle. Poured jet black, huge frothy brown head that lasted until the last drop. Aroma was malty, sweet, hints of chocolate. Flavor was strong. Notes of barley, spiciy, smokey. Hints of alcohol present as it warmed. Bitterness came through as well. Slight berry hints, and sweetness came throught as well. The two people I shared this with, said it tasted like barbecue sauce. I didn’t get quite that but it was def. an interesting brew. It was smooth, velvety, easily drinkable when I let it warm up considerably. Medium- bodied. Dry finish. Reminded me of coca-cola toward the end.

Bottled. Very friendly brewmaster who gave a couple of bottles to us to try at home. And lucky we were. Very nice IS. Strong complex aroma with coffee, whiskey and moccha. Black color, light brown head, good lace. Sweet, coffee, roasted bitter increasing towards the finish. Medium body, light dry.

Pours black with a large brown head. Aroma of smoke and coffee. A pleasant smooth carbonation delivers some sweet flavours of smoke, caramel, coffee oak and alcohol. The finish is reasonably smooth, despite some strong hop bitterness and a warming alcohol. Probably the smoothest imperial stout I have tasted.

On draught on its native place at The Cockney Pub in Århus. So smooth and round that I have to state that this beer is a must on tap.
