Commercial Description:
Cockney Imperial Stout was born at the request of Mike Wilson, publican and proprietor of Cockney Pub in Århus. Mike talked Niels Jørn into brewing a whole batch of a rich, dark, very strong stout exclusively for his pub. The stout went like wildfire, and 800 litres were sold from a single tap in the small pub in just 5 weeks! Rumors of this amazing stout spread to the rest of the country, convincing Niels that this smooth, black beer should be a constant in the WinterCoat selection. It, like many of WinterCoat's strong beers, goes down deceivingly smoothly.

Cask – Big bubbled beautiful head on an almost black body; Licorice and cinnamon in a nose that is much smaller then I expected and a lot more simple; Quite nice body, bitter sweet, with some complexity; Medium length in a simple finish with licorice, dark malt, and a little hoppy bitterness. Again (for a Wintercoat beer) WAY TO SWEET. Bottle(April 21-2006 - 6-2-5-2-9=2.4) – Beautiful black body with red shine, very fast disappearing head, no laces; Almost no nose, not powerful at all and quite sharp. It is actually like smelling a Eau-de-Vie de Poire William (lots of offence to the Eau-de-Vie, sorry!!), mixed with the smell of marker, dark malt and milk chocolate; The is quite full and quite flat, it lacks in all elements (no bitterness what so ever), no complexity at all; It finishes quite long but again super boring: It has some malt, some grain and a little chocolate. Well, I was disappointed of the cask-version and expected the bottled-version to be better, but it aint. I had this beer when it was just launched at Cockney Pub and remember it as much better. Me or the brew?????

On tap. Very black with brown head. Malty with hints of smoke. Could have been more taste of coffe and chocolate in my humble opinion. But all in all a good imperial stout.

This must be the best imperial stout the I have ever tried, and, furthermore, I like the story telling that this beer was produced for a local bar in the city of Århus. Nice taste - aroma and flavor are fantastic. The only negative thing is that the head - that smells so f’cking good - disappears quiet rapidly.

Bottle. Black in colour with a tan head. Roasted malty aroma with some nots of smoke. Malty flavor with a nice roastiness, also some smokiness in the flavor and hints of coffee. Bitter finish.

Thanks Paul (Dickinsonbeer). Dark brown body with a burgundy tone and a small, fading, sudsy tan head. Aroma has a prominent whiskey note plus char and burnt marshmallows. Flavor is of charred malt with roasty bitterness and big balancing sweetness. Gives the impression of sweet smores from a campfire. Decent beer overall.

Poured a dark brown color with a small, thin, tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of fudge chocolate, nuts, smoke, and dried fruits. Taste of chocolate and smoke, some bitter roast, light hoppiness, and faint alcohol in the finish as well. Creamy mouthfeel.

Almost black colour, small unimpressive head. Fine roasted aroma. The flavour is full of chocolate, coffee, and dark fruits (plums) ending in a pleasant and smooth bitter finish. Very pleasant and easy to drink for the style. Wonderful stuff!
