COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cockney Imperial Stout was born at the request of Mike Wilson, publican and proprietor of Cockney Pub in Århus. Mike talked Niels Jørn into brewing a whole batch of a rich, dark, very strong stout exclusively for his pub. The stout went like wildfire, and 800 litres were sold from a single tap in the small pub in just 5 weeks! Rumors of this amazing stout spread to the rest of the country, convincing Niels that this smooth, black beer should be a constant in the WinterCoat selection. It, like many of WinterCoat's strong beers, goes down deceivingly smoothly.

Bottle: thanks to Fonefan. Big light airy to vast light brown head on top of a deep dark brown to black colored beer. Smell is a light smell with lots of chocolate, and hints of toasted malts and caramel. Taste roadted malts, caramel, hint of hops, bitter, dark fruits, prunes and chocolate. Soft silky turns to bitter, aftertaste of bitter, grass. Between watery and oily texture, medium to full body, low carbo and soft silky light dry mouthfeel. Nice beer.

Cask @ Cockney pub, Århus. Pours black with small light brown head. Aroma of roested malt, chocolate, coffee. Taste is much like aroma with some caramel and light smoke added. Full body, low carbonation. Fairly easy drinking for that ABV, good. 220111

Rated in the spring 2010: Very nice smokey beer, like drinking a bonfire. Rough but good taste with a malty palate. Maybe a little more sweetness could make it perfect..

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2010 Rating #302, bottle from Fish n’ Beer

Appearance of this beer is black with almost no head, but on the other hand there is yeast fragments in the beer, which is a plus in my book. Aroma is marked by different stout-aromas like chocolate, a bit smoke and some tar, but more fruity aromas as mandarines and strawberries are present too. Flavor has mostly chocolate and liquorice, and ends in a nice bittersweet finish with only light bitterness for an imperial stout, but very pleasant. Medium body, and very nice soft and oily mouthfeel. Absolutely a nice beer.

Cask conditioned@Lord Nelson, København. Abv 8.0%. A layer of tan bubbles over a near black body. Initial aroma of sour dark fruits. Then a scent of roasted malts and coffe. Taste has strong coffee and cocoa notes. Some salty licorice and burnt caramel, and notes of acidic fruits. Medium fullness. Low carbonation level, easy on the palate. Coffee and bitter chocolate in the fade. Straightforward with an acidic touch.

Bottle. 8% abv. Dark brown almost black body with a fluffy tan head. Sweet roasty aroma with light tobacco and caramel notes. Light chocolate. THe flavour is mainly roasty but the alcohol is rather profound. Caramel and light coffee notes. Roasted alcoholic finish. Not very good actually.
