Chocolate and molassas aroma. Dark chocolate flavor, molassas, very little hop flavor, but a firm hop bitterness. Medium body, slightly thinner than I expect for an imperial stout, Medium low carbonation. Kinz (2203), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 15, 2008 Draft at Capital Alehouse Midlothian. Pours a thick black with dark brown at edges, decent head fades entirely. Aroam is sweet, with a slightly medicinal molasses aroma. Treacle flavor dominates. Some chocolate and molasses as well. Very British in nature, a bit like le Coq in some ways, just not as thick. Medium bodied, slightly boozy. Interesting, but in a way, not especially enjoyable. GAManiac (1150), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 11, 2008 Pours black with ruby hints around the edges. Tan head is two fingers and has solid retention and lacing throughout. Smell is much sweeter than I had anticipated. There is a huge dark fruit presence with roasted malts and a bit of chocolate. Taste follows the smell with a big sweet malty taste up front with hints of chocolate and coffee. There was some dark fruits along with additional vanilla sweetness and licorice. There was a touch of hops in the taste but not much. Mouthfeel was rich and creamy with moderate carbonation. I actually really liked this beer, despite the fact that I question it’s classification as an RIS. It’s extremely smooth and sweet which makes it very drinkable. Recommended as a sweet stout. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 8, 2008 From my backlog. Decent head retention and lacing, but quickly faded once I started getting the aroma. Creamy mouthfeel. Nice use of dark specialty malts. Slight bitterness that was accentuated by the type of water used. A bit of black liqorice and dark chocolate that pop-up on the finish. I don’t really get the "imperial" factor here. Very, "eh" and unexciting overall. wickedpete (626), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2008 Black body, creamy tan head quickly fades, no lacing produced. Aroma of sweet chocolate and a bit of licorice. Flavor has chocolate, thick bitter coffee. Has a very slight chalky feel. Not overly special. Bragesnak (2257), Aarhus, Denmark

Excellent stout with malt sweetness to compliment the roasted and chocolate flavors. Solid bitterness and a hint of smoke guzzler67 (1277), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 11, 2008 Cask at Max’s in Baltimore. Large, dense, tan head atop the totally dark body. Rich, roasted malt. woodsy, coffeeish aroma. Taste is bittersweet chocolate and roasted coffee; hops are low keyed but there are enough to keep this stout from becoming too cloying. Creamy, full bodied, modestly carbonated mouthfeel. Sweet. long lasting finish. Skinnyviking (4141), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Bottle. High creamy light brown and lasting head leaving nice curtains. Pitch black body. Coffee liquorice hops aroma. Pretty hoppy coffee liquorice flavor, mild and smooth though, alcohol well hidden. Low carbonation, long coffee aftertaste.
