Commercial Description:
Cockney Imperial Stout was born at the request of Mike Wilson, publican and proprietor of Cockney Pub in Århus. Mike talked Niels Jørn into brewing a whole batch of a rich, dark, very strong stout exclusively for his pub. The stout went like wildfire, and 800 litres were sold from a single tap in the small pub in just 5 weeks! Rumors of this amazing stout spread to the rest of the country, convincing Niels that this smooth, black beer should be a constant in the WinterCoat selection. It, like many of WinterCoat's strong beers, goes down deceivingly smoothly.

Pitchblack with a moderate head. The aroma has a lot of chocolate and the mouthfeel is semi oily. The flavour has wonderful notes of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, caramel and it’s slightly vinous. It’s very harmonic and the alcohol is not present in the taste. This is a really nice Imperial stout, well done Wintercoat!!

Bottle. Large creamy brown head that mostly lasted. Spare lacing. Black color. Aroma was a lovely mix of coffee, chocolate, burned and light Smokey notes, liquorish. Medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation. Flavor was moderated sweet with good bitter burned notes. Finish was sweet that ends in a somewhat bitter feel.

Bottle. Pitch black, nice brown head. Cocoa and tar aroma, chocolate, viol and licorice, roasted and a bit smoked. Quite smooth bitter flavor, tar, cocoa, chocolate, smoky notes. Really fullbodied and with a pleasant bitter finish. A nice imperial stout.

Very dark terra-cotta body, thin, rapidly dissipating light tan head. Thick creamy lacing. Aroma is chocolate and sweet malts, with miniscule components of coffee and smoke, also an awkward dark fruit jam blend. Flavor is a muted version of the nose, heavily particular to the coffee and chocolate, all subdued with a metallic and plastic tinge. Not very drinkable, but certainly interesting. Finishes dry and chalky, moderately bitter. Medium bodied, sticky and unpleasant mouthfeel. A lackluster effort.

Coffe nose, dark brown color, low quick dissappating head. Roasted malt, sweet too. Raisin fruitiness, peaty. Metallic feel. Thin and watery for an iStout.

Bottle... Black ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The aroma wafts notes of black cherries, chocolate and earthy canvas up into my nose. The flavor is a bit bland for the style. Good bitterness and cocoa, but everything just lies flat and uninteresting. Medium to full-bodied and astringent with moderate carbonation. Short, bitter, ashy finish. Technically, a good beer; aesthetically, nothing special. Kudos to henrikb for providing the bottle!
