Commercial Description:
Cockney Imperial Stout was born at the request of Mike Wilson, publican and proprietor of Cockney Pub in Århus. Mike talked Niels Jørn into brewing a whole batch of a rich, dark, very strong stout exclusively for his pub. The stout went like wildfire, and 800 litres were sold from a single tap in the small pub in just 5 weeks! Rumors of this amazing stout spread to the rest of the country, convincing Niels that this smooth, black beer should be a constant in the WinterCoat selection. It, like many of WinterCoat's strong beers, goes down deceivingly smoothly.

[Bottled. Marsiblursi delivers] Dark brown colour. Low, brown head. Dry-ish cocoa nose. Ashy tone in flavour, yet quite fiery with a touch of juniper. Good grapey bitterness.

(Bottle) Pours dark brown. Roasted, a bit sweet aroma with dark fruit, dark bread, led pencil, roasted nuts, burned smokey rubber and cocoa. Heavy roasted, salty liquorice flavour with a orange peel/grapefruit bitterness and a touch alcohol in the finish. Some coffee and cocoa. Medium body.

Bottle from JohnC, Thanks again for the trade John. pours a clear brown brew with a whole different nose than American Imperials. More "stout". some chocolate, coffee but the aromas and flavors were a bit muted.

Bottle sampled on 7/2/06 thanks to sk8viking: Pours a barely transparent dark brown with a thin-lacing wispy tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel malt and lots of smoky character along with a touch of dark fruitiness. Body has lots of pleasant sweet dark caramel maltiness and mild dark fruity notes with a drier smoky finish. Very well-balanced and enjoyable, just not as "imperial" as it probably should be.

Draught. Deep dark brown colour with a nice big creamy off-white long lasting head. Aroma of well roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Strong flavour of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, dark fruits, bitter hops. Bit smoky bitter finish. TASTY brew indeed!

Bottle. Almost pitch-black with an initially fizzy head. This settles as a centimeter of creamy offwhite cream. Aroma is surprisingly sweet, lots of chocolate - the sweetness is slightly fruity. Nice mouthfeel. Slightly vinious. Low carbonated. Roasted malts, chocolate, some coffee, ginger and this lingering fruity sweetness. Great!
