Commercial Description:
Cockney Imperial Stout was born at the request of Mike Wilson, publican and proprietor of Cockney Pub in Århus. Mike talked Niels Jørn into brewing a whole batch of a rich, dark, very strong stout exclusively for his pub. The stout went like wildfire, and 800 litres were sold from a single tap in the small pub in just 5 weeks! Rumors of this amazing stout spread to the rest of the country, convincing Niels that this smooth, black beer should be a constant in the WinterCoat selection. It, like many of WinterCoat's strong beers, goes down deceivingly smoothly.

A pitch black beer with a beutiful brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted chocolate, nuts, and oranges. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and nuts in the foreground with the alcohol lingering in the back. A great beer.

(On tap) I believe 7,5% ABV in my version. Pitch black, perhaps with a wee tint of red. Light brown head that never collapses completely. Lovely notes of roasted - hard roasted - malts adding the typical notions of chocolate and coffee. Some vanilla in there too. Bitter, but not overly so. 040305

Draught at Plan B, Copenhagen. Very black. Really roasty and smokey, almost rubbery. Full bodied. Salty and rich on licorice, very bitter finish. Flavourful and tasty, but not as balanced as some Wintercoat beers. Bigger is not always better.

50 cL bottle. Pours deep dark brown with a dense and light brown head. Roasted malt aroma. Notes of chocolate, coffee and with a mild orange fruity note. Flavour starts roasted but also sweet. Mild fruity note intermixing with a soft chocolate flavour. Smooth mouthfeel as well. Goes into a really solid roasted and bitter finish and a mild warming alcohol note. Very nice brew.

Draught. Smoky aroma, flavour and aftertaste. Flavour is much like bitter chocolate. Creamy, smooth mouthfeel.

Bottled (thanks henrikb). Black colour, with yellowish brown, longlasting head. Lovely roasted malt, licorace and caramel in aroma, with weak hints of ash. Flavour is strong roasted malt, smoke from wet wood and ashes. Also some licorace and black coffee noteable. Especially the aftertaste gets wetwood smokeish. Very nice Imperial stout, which hides it’s 8.4% very well. Slightly watery palate, which is among the only weak details in the beer.

Draught at Ølbaren. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma of liquorice, smoke, malts and nuts. Flavour of malts, liquorice, smoke, coffee and chocolate. Nice and long bitter finish with chocolate, liquorice and smoke.
