COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
WinterCoat's Imperial IPA is light amber in color. The fruitiness from the ale yeast combines beautifully with the body of the malts and the feshness of the bops to create a very well-balanced, though very heavily hopped brew. Double Hop has a heady hop aroma without too much bitterness. The smooth taste belies its 8.5% alcohol content. This beer is dangerously pleasant to drink!

Way more sweet & thick than I was expecting. Aroma is very complex & tough to put a finger on. Thick, hazy amber pour w/not much head.

Orange-red, thin white cover. Celery caramel aroma, light spicy hops. Vegetal taste, hoppy, but cut by the carame and sweet malt.

Very interesting hard to describe beer... Pours syrupy with a deep dark murky amber color and strong retention head that initially fades quick but then lingers for a long time. Aroma of hop resin, slight grapefruit, and sour apple? Flavor is strong in sweet and bitter with a interesting sourness mixed into it. Full bodied with a thick sticky mouthfeel and syrupy finish

Pours a very hazy orange amber with frothy cream-tinged head. Aroma is very berry with nutty malts. Flavor is bready with almond flavor that offsets a sugary berry flavor. Body is creamy with medium carbonation.

Slow gusher. Huge coarse offwhite head. Amber body with intense carbonation. Fruity spicy Belgian yeast aroma with wood and lacquer notes. Dry-bitter wooden floral mineraly taste with earthy horse blanket notes. Light body. Intensely fizzy and somewhat harsh mouthfeel. Dry citric floral herbal aftertaste with ashy mineraly notes. A real challenge, this. Tastes like a double IPA with European hops and brett. More likely it’s just lightly infected. (0.5l bottle, Fish & Beer, Copenhagen.)

Crackers and grass on the nose. Shimmering amber, thin head good lace. Resiny orange with a pronounced biscuit and cracker base. Caskish mouthfeel, boozy triple sec finish. Well balanced, solid malt backbone that is not the least bit cloying. I liked it, but the accomplished homebrewer drinking it with me was unimpressed.

Cask at Pizza Paradiso in Georgetown, DC. Sweet, fruity, very malty, warmly alcoholic. Fairly cloying actually. Nearly syrupy. Draft list said "balanced" but that might have been a mis-used code word for "not very hoppy despite the name." The malt and sweetness overwhelm any shot at hop flavor or balance. Might be OK in a snifter as a barley wine, though, in the right context. As usual I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

500ml Bottle - Amber with a foamy head. Pine, carameal and grapefruit feature in the aroma. Hoppy, fruity and slightly tangy taste with notes of grapefruit, dried fruit and caramel. The finish is fruity and pleasantly bitter.

Tap @ Hamiltons. Pours a cloudy golden orange with a frothy off white head. Nose of skunky herbal hops, wet grass and caramel malts. ok.....
