WinterCoat's Imperial IPA is light amber in color. The fruitiness from the ale yeast combines beautifully with the body of the malts and the feshness of the bops to create a very well-balanced, though very heavily hopped brew. Double Hop has a heady hop aroma without too much bitterness. The smooth taste belies its 8.5% alcohol content. This beer is dangerously pleasant to drink!

From bottle, 10 CL. Amber with a reddish tint with a small white head. Light malt flavor with moderate hop. Notes of smoke, possibly error brew. Slightly sweet taste followed by a moderate hoppy taste and aftertaste

Bottle, shared with Mike. Orange amber with sediment tailings, huge gold-tinted head. Aroma is sweet with perfumey fruit, lychee and pear. Sweet candy-ish malts, lightly floral perfumey aromatics lead into a very bitter finish with hints of spice and yeast. A very nice change to try an IIPA with some Euro hop varieties.

Strange brew this one... Appearance: Nice orange/amber color with sizeable layer of white foamy head. Aroma: Iím clearly picking up a bit of yeasty funk... quite strange. Taste: DEFINITE and STRONG funky/sour flavor dominates. Iím not sure if this is infected or old (it was a gift), but it certainly tastes nothing like any other DIPA Iíve ever had... very odd. My girlfriend LOVES sours and she is thoroughly enjoying this one... Mouthffeel & Drinkability : tart flavor makes it a bit hard to drink for me, but the mouthfeel is nice - somewhat smooth & creamy.

Tap. Poured a orange color, small head. Aroma was grapefruit notes, hops. Flavor was hops, malts, notes of caramel, slightly tart finish. Another beer that hid the alcohol quite well all things considered.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2010 Location: Draft at Capital Ale House, 11/26/10

Aroma: The nose is caramel malts, fruit, some funky yeast, fruity belgian yeast, a little wood
Appearance: It pours a hazy amber color with a wispy white head and some lace
Flavor:The taste is malty/fruity sweetness, some spiciness and funk to it
Palate: Medium bodied with a somewhat creamy feel to it, also a little sticky, medium carbonation
Overall Impression: First off, this was not a Double IPA, but it was a decent beer. I enjoyed it, but it wasnít outstanding. It wasnít worth what they charged for it either.

Labeled Winter Coat Double IPA on tap. Nose and taste sour IPA. Nose tart currants. Tart sweet in the mouth to hoppy goodness to pure tart. Interesting mix in the mouth. Tasted closer to a sour that a DIPA. Nice brew.

Way more sweet & thick than I was expecting. Aroma is very complex & tough to put a finger on. Thick, hazy amber pour w/not much head.

Orange-red, thin white cover. Celery caramel aroma, light spicy hops. Vegetal taste, hoppy, but cut by the carame and sweet malt.
