2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: OCT 3, 2006 Draught @Plan B
Nut brown, not much head. Mild yeasty hoppy nose. Toffeeish palate with leather and horseplanket. Flat, some unfermented sugar there. Oily, a bit hoppy - yeasty aftertatse. I wonder they had a right keg in Plan B :) (4/3/5/2/10 2.4).
Re-rated, big bottle 8.2%.
Orange hazy color, small white head. Aroma of horseplanket and leather. Leathery, fruity - lambic-like slightly sour flavor. Carbonated, Champagne-like mouthfeel. (6/3/7/3/12 3.1)

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Appearance: Clearish, orange-amber body with a inch of fizzy, whitish head that quickly dissipated.
Smell: Curious blend of wildflower honey, clean alcohol, citrus fruits, spruce tips, and bleu cheese.
Taste: Honeyed malts with an initial toothsome pop of sugary sweetness. Floral, spruce hints lead to citric tastes of tangerine and grapefruit and a moderate amount of hop bitterness. Along the way, you’re treated to a very distinct, peculiar taste of bleu cheese crumbles. But, hey, I do enjoy bleu cheese, though I can’t help but find it off-putting, and, yet, I can hardly resist the urge to dip some french fries into it. Light touch of peppery alcohol. Bittersweet, warming finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-high carbonation.
Drinkability: It’s crumbelievable!

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at Redlight Redlight. The pour yields a lightly hazy, dark, reddish amber color. A thin, patchy film of beige tinted foam sits at the head, leaving behind random, skinny, snake-like flares of lace on the glass. The aroma is based in a weird dessert bread sweetness, hinting at mildly tart red berries and candied orange peel, with a downright strange overtone of earthy peat. Floral hops seem all but completely faded, and I pick up notes of sweaty clothes and eggy, caramelized flan. The flavor shows a smoky, ashy background, very peaty and earthy, with notes of wild berries and a hint of salty brininess. Floral hops come through on the finish, along with notes of intense white pepper spice. The palate is just shy of medium bodied, very lightly carbonated (as a cash ale should be), with the feel of heavily sugared water. Eh, this is definitely not my thing. It’s a very strange brew that doesn’t even remotely resemble a double IPA, in my opinion.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask at Pizza Paradiso in Georgetown, DC. Sweet, fruity, very malty, warmly alcoholic. Fairly cloying actually. Nearly syrupy. Draft list said "balanced" but that might have been a mis-used code word for "not very hoppy despite the name." The malt and sweetness overwhelm any shot at hop flavor or balance. Might be OK in a snifter as a barley wine, though, in the right context. As usual I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Golden with medium head. Funky taste from the combo of yeast and hops in this one...pretty light and drinkable. But, the combination doesn’t work well for my tastes. Light bitterness.

Hmm - a bit light IPA consider it is described as "Imperial IPA". The color is light orange with good head. The bitterness is not particular distinct but more like a light summer beer.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
[5/12/12] Hand-pump draught sample at Ølfestival København 2012. Almost clear deep amber brownish color with a medium beige head. Aroma of malt, candies (some gummy bears) and some floral hops. Sweet candy-ish flavor, pretty malty, with a bit of honey and a somewhat bitter finish with a bit of hops. Not very DIPA-like, but kinda OK. Medium-bodied.

Thisone must have been a bad bottle. Imperial IPA’s are my favorites and I looked forward to thisone and then it tasted of caturine!

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draft at SL, courtesy Robert. The pour was hazy golden to yellow, ok initial head, faded quickly, weak lacing. The aroma was strong fruit, lemons and apples most noteable, a little basement/musty funk in the finish with some ginger-like spicing. The flavor was strong lemon candy, apples, winter warming spices, and a touch of funk. Mouthfeel was light, crisp, more like a summer beer, sans the spices. Double hopped? Really? Thanks, Robert!

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Medium orange amber, decent head. Aroma is biscuit malts and tangerine citrus hops, a bit of hay, not bad. Flavor is a big let down - at first, it matches the nose, but then a whiff of early onset infection makes itself known. Too bad, as the tangerine thing was really working for me.
