6/VI/14 - 75cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ Katie & Kevin’s place - BB: n/a (2014-594)
Clear dark brown beer, big irregular beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: lots of dried fruits, chocolate when opening the bottle, bit of chlorine, raisins, banana and banana peel. MF: ok carbon, full body. Taste: pretty bitter, cocoa powder, dried fruits, lots of alcohol, bit sugary, more alcohol, banana, some citrus. Aftertaste: alcohol, overripe banana, dried fruits, raisins, bitter hops, bit sour. Honestly? I like the original one WAY more than this one!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very dark beer, white foam, disappears quickly. Low carbonation. Vinous aroma with hints of dark fruit, chocolate, wood and some roastiness. Unfortunatly very sweet. This will be better with aging.

Bottle sample at Essen Kerstbierfestival. Pours near black with a small beige head. Aroma of dank old fruit, oak, raisin and caramel. Flavour is light heavy sweet and bitter. 4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle @ kerstbierfestival Essen. Dark black purple pour with no head. Great smell of mocha, some bourbon and a shit load of oak wood. Taste is sweet bourbon, chocolate and dark heavy malts and wood and licorice. Really thick smooth velvety mouthfeel with low carbonation. This is a spectacular beer. One of the best I tasted at the festival.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: DEC 19, 2013 75 cl. bottle sampled @ Kerstbierfestival Essen 2013. Reddish very dark brown, quite a bit less dark than the regular one with some mocha bubbles. Nose is thick liquorish with roast, very warming, boozy in a nice way, heavy on oak, thick vanilla, mocha sludge. Taste is quite boozy & warming, bitter upfront, roaste malts, liquorish, thick candy, mocha, sugary, woody, nicely alcoholic touch, thick malty, touch vanilla. Thick, touch less carb. Very raw & boozy esp. compared to the Vintage regular version I have had, touch less than that one but with age, the very raw nature of this one is bound to lessen a bit. Very impressive for now never the less. Wonderful brew still.
