Mahogany pour with a khaki head. Nose is raisin, red grape, and sugar. Some licorice, a fair amount of alcohol, chocolate, and prunes. There’s a strong fruit sweetness to the flavor of prune, raisin, and port. Notes of chocolate, some licorice, brown sugar, and alcohol. Not a big fan of this.

ZEBF13 smell is bourbon-ish, oaky low carbo. bitter, complex, sour touch, sweet, aftertaste is more of the same, very bitter. way better, extremely way better than the regular one

Pours deep brown, like 100% cacao chocolate, completely opaque with a fluffy brown-tan head. Raisins, oak, ink, like a pantry full of rustic sundries. Flavor bursts with brown sugar and brownies and chocolate and port, like caramelized prunes and outright decadence.

Bottle courtesy of saxo. Clear dark brown with a lasting light brown head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dark fruit, light yeasty and alcohol. Flavor is very sweet and rather bitter. Sweet finish with warming alcohol. 210413

Thanks Vincent! Pours a dark brown with a small light brown head...nice lacing. Smell is sweet balsamic vinegar, deep fruit. Taste starts with tangy fruit with vinegar coming on with a tart and sour end. Active carbonation with light body. Great nose, nice taste.

Hazy dark brown colour. Aroma of sweet dried fruits. Texture is really rich, oily and a bit sticky. Flavour has sweet dates and other dried fruit. There’s also a little caramel. In the finish there’s some biiter roast malt giving some hints of cocoa/chocolate.

My Bottom Line:
Plums and raisins move into alcohol heat and light chocolate in this fruity Quad-like beast of a sipper.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the cloudy purplish-brown.
-Like most Belgian Strong Ales, the mouthfeel is lean yet the beer has a somewhat sugary finish.
-The flavor profile is quite similar to a Scotch Ale’s (but not the mouthfeel).
-The soft effervescence and controlled alcohol heat give this beast an air of elegance.
-Notes of rum and vanilla also appear.

Bottle, as Bink Grand Cru.

Sarphati Oude Olie Grand Cru: Didn’t know what to expect, but this one really blew my mind. Hints of coffee, chocolate and toast. A real full flavour.
