0.75l bottle shared with BelgBeerGeek @ Kulminator. This one is a hard to see through- amlost impossible actually and itís colored near black with a medium sized and lacing beige head. The aroma has sweetness, chocolate paper, dark malts, syrup and fruity blackberries. All in all quite a complex and really nice aroma. Hard for me to tell what genre this beer is classified as but itís definitely really really tasty! Packed with sweetness without being sweet, dark, hazelnutty and malty, boozy dipped biscuits with sugar on top and raisins on the side. This was an extreme tasty brew. Thanks for the tip Vincent! 02.06.2012

750ml bottle shared @Mad for Beer (Rome). Pours brown/reddish with a little but persistent off-white head. Aroma is rich and powerful, dried fruits, oak, cherry, light chocolate, oxidation. Flavour is complex, medium to heavy sweet with a good bitter end, alcohol. Full body, medium carbonation. Amazing.

2011 bottle. Sarphati Oude Olie. Flat, medium brown. The aroma is oxidized toffee, choc, molasses, wood...but oxidized in a way that seems rounded. Quite sweet, with a nice sticky character. Thereís a sticky molasses character, with a bit of boozy woodiness in the finish. The sweetness really mellows this out.

Bottle - Vintage 2011 - Booze, molasses and soy sauce. After some time cocoa come out. Deep brown. Soy, tootsie roll and a light booze finish. Old, but decent.

Bottle of "Sarphati Grand Cru Oud Olie," at least 5 years old. Pours a deep brown/black colour with no head. Minimal carbonation. Bit of soy on the aroma, and toasty chocolate notes. Tastes rich but oxidized, with a slightly sweet finish. A very cool bottle, thanks fiulijn.

Shared bottle, pours dark brown with fast falling beige head. Aroma of candy, caramel, dried fruits and milk chocolate. Extremly sweet taste with a touch of bitterness in the finish. Good beer but to sweet for me.

750 ml bottle of "Binkís Grand Cru" served in a Porter Bar goblet. A wire bound synthetic ícorkí is way too hard to remove! Thankfully, the beer was well worth the effort. Pours dark brown; opaque in the glass but dark ruby highlights at the edges. Weak head. Aroma: a mix of dark dried fruits including cherries and some pleasant, mild alcohol esters. Hints of chocolate that are more subtle in flavor. Feel: a soft, full body with light carbonation, some warming alcohol. A bit syrupy. Flavor: rich and complex. Just a touch sweeter and more alcohol laden than Iíd prefer. Loaded with raisins and other dark dried fruit flavors. Faint spicing. Good balance other than being slightly over sweet. Overall: This is a fine sipping Belgian ale, best served fairly warm/ Admirably the high ABV is partially hidden.

Winterkoninkske Grand Cru 13% 750ml from Ohtsuki, shared at a work party. Dark brown with a tan head. The aroma is nutty, chocolate and fruity. Full bodied and smooth. The taste is red berries, fudge and Malts with a light warmth. Very nice stuff.

Draught at Akkurat 15/12-15. Big sweet and roasted mix of chocolate, dark bread, raisin and plum with warming alcohol. Smooth and fairly drinkable considering the ABV. Like a big fat belgian imperial stout. Didnít "dissect" it too much, but it was damn tasty.

From notes (9/5/2014 at Ebenezers in Maine). Man this is a complex beer. It artfully combines flavors of plums, candy, Christmas pudding, biscuits and more from the malts with fruity and spicy esters from the yeast. Itís big but the alcohol is never overpowering or too present. Great beer to sip at the end of the night with friends, and one of the best Iíve ever had from Belgium.
