Thanks to jhenry04 for sharing this, brought over from Belgium. Nose is chocolate pudding and malt balls. Deep brown pour wij a little bit of an off white head. Flavor is heavilly chocolate with chocolate covered cherries with a full mouthfeel and clean finish. No hint of 13% abv.

75 cl fles @ Landgoed Den Oker, Zomergem.

Drunk from 75cl bottle bought at malting pot Brussels. Very strong dark beer. Tastes almost like a barley wine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

6th Feb 2015: large sample from a 2013 vintage. De Bierboom (Brugge), cheers Filip for providing this lovely 0.75 litre bottle. Very dark pour to this spicy, strong ale: beige topping on the almost black body. The nose is all about dark fruits and malt molasses, sweet and interesting. The taste also dark fruits and malty, some vanilla and liquorice notes come through the sweetness: boozy feel with hidden spices in the finish. Far too easy to drink, and very pleasant in deed.

750 cc from Capone’s, 2013 vintage. Pours thick and hazy dark black with tan head. Nose is raisin, prune, blackberry, molasses, some yeasty malts. Tastes rich, complex, with charred malts, blackberry, molasses, vanilla, and an intense finish. More heat late.

2010 bottle. Black pour with a sticky sweet dark malt nose with some cocoa booziness and caramel and brown sugar. Lovely nose indeed. Rich flavor that’s boozey sweet and chocolates/caramelly with a big raisin and toffee biscuit undertone. Really amazing. Really full and conplexly sweet with a good dose of raisins and dates.

Whiskey and raisin aromas, looks just like flat cola, sweet with flavours like malted biscuits, just not as good as i was hoping.

2011 bottle from Otsuki. Nose of chocolate, molasses, brown sugar, orange, spice. Brown with orange, flat. Nicely tangy flavor, oranges, spice, caramel and chocolate, brown sugar. Almost flat, just a bit of light carbonation, silky, just a bit too thin. Very good though.

In short: dark spicy strong ale.
Pours very dark with some tan head, short head retention, some lacing. Roasty, liquor, vanilla, caramel aromas.Medium body, soft carbonation, oily texture. Taste is smooth, roasty, malty, caramle, spicy, some bready. Very enjoyable. Warm alcoholic finish, noticeable but well integrated.
