Beside the ‘Bloesem Bink’, you can also enjoy a second seasonal beer, the ‘Winterkoninkske’. This beer is, just like the others, unfiltered, not pasteurized, with secundary fermentation in the bottle. The ‘Winterkoninkske’ is the ideal beer to make a cold and chilly winter evening pleasant. The ingredients are: seven types of malt (among which rolled oats), two belgian types of hop, brewing liqour and yeast. Our winter beer is a dark and heartwarming beer with a pure, sugary flavour and a long, bitter aftertaste. The alcohol content of this heavy beer is 8,3 % vol.alc.

A bit malty, strong alcohol and fairly sweet but I liked the balance, not a lot of head but still some carbonation, I liked this beer and will have again as a seasonal

330ml bottle, thanks to JefVerstraete. Pours dark with light roasted malts / liquorice aroma. Taste is smooth & liquoricey with cocoa and dark treacle notes emerging as it warms. Very pleasant.

330ml bottle from Corner Bar, Beijing. Pours very dark brown with a dissipating off white head. Aroma of black treacle, toffee and malt. Sweet finish, can sense the alcohol. Very nice.

Dark beer covered with a root beer float / cola head. Feint, but pleasant roasted malt, with a pinch of nuts and Belgian yeast touches round out the aroma. Figgy body, rounded, smooth with hazelnut underpinning. Warming and well balanced. Well suited for a dark night, cold night, deep into winter.

Bottle. Dark dark brown, zero foam. Aroma: plums, raisins, boiled down red wine (beouf bourgoignon), hint of fresh mushroom, hint of charcoal. Only downside is that the aroma's are not that strong. Taste: licorice mixed with chocolate, again a hint of charcoal. Rye bread permeates. Hint of barley wine, coffee, oily. This is very robust.

From my haul back from Anchorage. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a nice looking dark brown close to black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated practically immediately. Light lacing stuck and slid nicely into the beer. The smell had a sharp Belgian sugar that leads me on to a decent sweetness. Light spice (ginger) enters in as it warms. The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors and combined to flavor with sharp spice (more so some nutmeg this time) in the aftertaste. Sweet sticky finish leads at the end. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sipping quality about it. The carbonation was good for the style and for me as there’s a nice sharpness but not overbearing. Overall, I say this was a pretty good Belgian Strong Ale that I would have again.

11.2 oz. bottle a home. Pours a hazy dark amber brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet caramel malts, Christmas cookies, mild spices, brown sugar, yeast, some dark dried fruit, with a slight bitterness to the finish. OK.
