The aroma is dark fruit, yeast, malts and an edge of the juniper berries. The flavor is very nutty malts, dark fruit and a mix of grain sweetness and tartness in the finish.

330 ml bottle shared by dbsdelight- thanks again, Dan! You’re spoiling (and killing) me with all these new ones in a row. 2006 vintage. Pours a hazy amber-brown color with a small off-white film for a head. Aroma of sweet and caramel malts, brown sugar, figs, dates, and holiday bread. The flavor also has brown sugar, dark and dried fruits, sweet and caramel malts, plus berries and a metallic note. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, metallic mouthfeel and low carbonation. The winter spice has mostly fallen out. Probably better a few years newer.

Bottle. Creamy lightbrown excellent mostly lasting head. Red-amber colour. moderate malty and light hoppy aroma. Toffee and yeasty notes. Moderate bitter nice flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. oily palate. Nice.

Dark brown, semi-opaque, beige head. Nose is dried fruits, spice, sweet malt, yeast, spice notes. Taste is bready malt, spice, sweet dried fruit, mainly dried plums, caramel. Somewhat dry finish with some alcohol warmth. Full body, weak and silky carbonation. Good brew.

Bottle. A brown, clear beer topped by a finger-thick, dense, beige head. The aroma has some solvent hints, with crocant, roasted malts and dark dried fruits. Dried fruits, plums and some roasted malts in the flavor, slightly bitter and alcoholic in the finish. Smooth on the palate, full-bodied. A quite nice beer, but far from world class. 110916

UPDATED: JUN 30, 2012 Bel color rubino scuro con una soffice schiuma bianca persistente. Aroma dolciastro, zuccheroso e leggermente speziato con forti sentori di frutti essicati e malto. Il gusto è dolce con note di fiori, mele e pere; al palato è corposa grazie all’alcool ma non è liquorosa ed è sorprendentemente rinfrescante; finale lungo e bilanciato. Non ho notato grosse differenze tra la bottiglia e la spina, ottima in entrambi i casi.
