Beside the ‘Bloesem Bink’, you can also enjoy a second seasonal beer, the ‘Winterkoninkske’. This beer is, just like the others, unfiltered, not pasteurized, with secundary fermentation in the bottle. The ‘Winterkoninkske’ is the ideal beer to make a cold and chilly winter evening pleasant. The ingredients are: seven types of malt (among which rolled oats), two belgian types of hop, brewing liqour and yeast. Our winter beer is a dark and heartwarming beer with a pure, sugary flavour and a long, bitter aftertaste. The alcohol content of this heavy beer is 8,3 % vol.alc.

Tasty dark beer with lots of spices and some nice aroma hopping. Sweet of course, but also with a bitter edge.

Malty aroma has a strong overtone of caramel with floral and clove snippets. It pours a dark, semi-transparent sepia with a thick and fairly persistent tan head. Flavor has malty, caramel, nutty, earthy and hoppy tones - and a noticeable but not ferocious alcohol nip. Thick, almost syrupy texture is quite fizzy and lively. Enjoy next to a roaring fire, with a friendly long-hair cat in your lap and heavy snow outside - or in any conditions (except while driving, piloting, or operating vital equipment).

Bottle. Pours a clear deep red color with a one-finger tan head. Fruity aroma. Taste has lots of malts but also notes of fruits, caramel, nuts, honey, spices and brown sugar. Quite complex. Very sweet but not sickly much. A dry hoppy aftertaste. Very good.

6oz on tap at Neon’s. Very dark brown, dark red color. Kind of clear around the edges. Much darker than the previous winter ale I just tried [Oppigard’s]. Minimal khaki head, couple dots of lace. More dark fruit, maybe dates in the aroma. Light molasses. Bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick in the texture. Moderate to bigger sweet taste. Lightly spicy. OK dark belgian winter ale. A little syrupy, and molasses-y. Nice complex spice and malt profile grows on me as I go, though.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2014 Really sweet beer. Very present alcohol warmth. Also hints of caramel. Dry finish. The sweetness is dominating, nice. Drank again this week with Rik and Lennart while watching wie is de mol, unaware of the fact that I already drank it once. This what my notes said: Donker. Beetje schuim. Lekker dik, goede mouthfeel. Alles goed. Beetje naar andere beschrijvingen kijken. Zoete valt op maar niet te.
