COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beside the ‘Bloesem Bink’, you can also enjoy a second seasonal beer, the ‘Winterkoninkske’. This beer is, just like the others, unfiltered, not pasteurized, with secundary fermentation in the bottle. The ‘Winterkoninkske’ is the ideal beer to make a cold and chilly winter evening pleasant. The ingredients are: seven types of malt (among which rolled oats), two belgian types of hop, brewing liqour and yeast. Our winter beer is a dark and heartwarming beer with a pure, sugary flavour and a long, bitter aftertaste. The alcohol content of this heavy beer is 8,3 % vol.alc.

On tap at Moeder Original. Very deep black colour with thick white head. Malty character, full sweetish flavour (in retrospect can see the oat content in the texture), just a hint of some yeasty spice, a little boozy, just enough hop to cut and make it drinkable. A nice warming wintry beer.

330 ml bottle during Brussels vacation. Dark brown with tiny off white head. Aroma sweet, liquorice, sugar. Taste is rich, liquorice, cacao, sugar, General impression is a sweet massive winter warmer.

Bottle. Dark dark brown, zero foam. Aroma: plums, raisins, boiled down red wine (beouf bourgoignon), hint of fresh mushroom, hint of charcoal. Only downside is that the aroma's are not that strong. Taste: licorice mixed with chocolate, again a hint of charcoal. Rye bread permeates. Hint of barley wine, coffee, oily. This is very robust.

From my haul back from Anchorage. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a nice looking dark brown close to black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated practically immediately. Light lacing stuck and slid nicely into the beer. The smell had a sharp Belgian sugar that leads me on to a decent sweetness. Light spice (ginger) enters in as it warms. The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors and combined to flavor with sharp spice (more so some nutmeg this time) in the aftertaste. Sweet sticky finish leads at the end. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sipping quality about it. The carbonation was good for the style and for me as there’s a nice sharpness but not overbearing. Overall, I say this was a pretty good Belgian Strong Ale that I would have again.

11.2 oz. bottle a home. Pours a hazy dark amber brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet caramel malts, Christmas cookies, mild spices, brown sugar, yeast, some dark dried fruit, with a slight bitterness to the finish. OK.

Bottle. 2011 vintage. Thanks to KyotoLefty. Massive dark fruit nose, alc. fumes, and dark sugar. Darks translucent brown. Sweetish initial, with alcohol-soaked raisins and light prunes, smooths out in mid and final. Heavy body, near syrupy and feels a bit oily. Strogn and flavorful stuff.

(tap) clear dark amber colour with a small brown head; aroma starts with strong soy sauce that tapers off to nothing; boozy, lightly sweet flavour with a light long bitter finish
