Beside the ‘Bloesem Bink’, you can also enjoy a second seasonal beer, the ‘Winterkoninkske’. This beer is, just like the others, unfiltered, not pasteurized, with secundary fermentation in the bottle. The ‘Winterkoninkske’ is the ideal beer to make a cold and chilly winter evening pleasant. The ingredients are: seven types of malt (among which rolled oats), two belgian types of hop, brewing liqour and yeast. Our winter beer is a dark and heartwarming beer with a pure, sugary flavour and a long, bitter aftertaste. The alcohol content of this heavy beer is 8,3 % vol.alc.

Dark maroon color with a small tan head that quickly disappears. Scant lacing. Aroma has bitter chocolate, raisins, vanilla and roasted malt. Flavor begins with milk chocolate and progresses to dark fruits and spice. Complex and interesting. Good body. Definitely a top Christmas beer.

Bottle. A brown, clear beer topped by a finger-thick, dense, beige head. The aroma has some solvent hints, with crocant, roasted malts and dark dried fruits. Dried fruits, plums and some roasted malts in the flavor, slightly bitter and alcoholic in the finish. Smooth on the palate, full-bodied. A quite nice beer, but far from world class. 110916

Bottle in a hotel room in Bruges. Black, thin beige head. Choccy nose, bit of boozyness on aroma. Liquorice, I really don’t like liquorice. Boozy too. Pretty much not in my palate. All wrong for me, but nothing wrong with it.

Bottle at home (after a eurofins summerparty). Black - light brown head. Berries, roasted, sweetness, yeasty, cherry, grease, leather, bark, port like. Alcoholic nose. Rather pleasant taste, but sweet & sharp aftertaste...

Dark red ruby, quickly vanishing expresso head. Crisp - fruits, berries and malts in the nose, not very strong aroma. Plums, raisins and a bit of brown sugar in the sweetish palate. Very thin and watery. Does not show much ABV or anything else.

Dark malt aroma; not much, if any, fruit or juniper. Dark brown color with a deep ruby that comes out under halogen. A beige/tan head that was reluctant to stay. A little berry fruit as the glass approaches the nose. Ok. The flavor starts with some pretty decent berry fruit - not tracing that to the juniper, which is leaving an evergreen note. The body is near full, and the carbonation is creamy. The malt is heavy caramel. The hop is not present? The juniper is low key, but ever present. This is an especially pleasant ale. The finish is sugary, but when that washes away, there is mild, persistent bitter. A really well done ale.
