Beside the ‘Bloesem Bink’, you can also enjoy a second seasonal beer, the ‘Winterkoninkske’. This beer is, just like the others, unfiltered, not pasteurized, with secundary fermentation in the bottle. The ‘Winterkoninkske’ is the ideal beer to make a cold and chilly winter evening pleasant. The ingredients are: seven types of malt (among which rolled oats), two belgian types of hop, brewing liqour and yeast. Our winter beer is a dark and heartwarming beer with a pure, sugary flavour and a long, bitter aftertaste. The alcohol content of this heavy beer is 8,3 % vol.alc.

Bottle. Pours a deep reddish mahogany with a small, creamy light brown head. Very sweet, fruity aroma of malt and doughy yeast. Flavor is malty with sweet apples and plums followed up with an alcohol and hops bitterness in the finish. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel and medium body make for a very satisfying experience.

Sweet honeylike aroma with some hints of alcohol. Dark brownish color with foamy tan head. Flavor is mildly malty and sweet with some yeasty and caramel notes. Palate is light and foamy. Easy to drink and pleasant.

Beige creamy weak head. Dark brown color. Aroma is weak, malty, fruity with raisins and caramel notes. Flavor is sweet, fruity with caramel, banana and light spicy tones, ending in a moderately sweet finish. Medium bodied.

Beautiful dark color. Wonderful banana and sweet bread dough aroma. Maybe even some bubblegum. Flavor just does not match. It is sweet, a bit nutty, some dark fruit, but just not a lot of anything, except sweet, even in the aftertaste. I picked it put because of the juniper berries, but couldn’t find them. To tell the truth, it was kind of a pleasant beer, just not what I expected and unbalanced.

Hell yeah! This was one of the beers that came out of a Christmas In Belgium sampler pack from my pal and fellow beer dork, Naven. Pretty delicious, man. Could be another Westvleteren 8, but it’s not rare enough to get the high value points. Rich and delicious. Did you know that the Belgians invented Santa Claus? Bet you didn’t. Well, let me educate you... Sinta Klaas will come on December 6th and fill your shoes with gifts. Pretty cool that you don’t have to wait until the 25th. And, get this, you also get the 25th off! Once again the Belgians and their forward progress have shown us lazy workaholics how it’s done. I could totally do Christmas twice. Sinta Klaas has a brown outfit, so it’s not as cheery as the red Coca Cola Santa, but, again, he comes earlier in the month so he gets my vote as the better St. Nick of the two.

Aroma is of dark fruit with a metalic hint. Flavor is pretty standard belgian dark fruit goodness. Solid belgian but nothing special.

Dark brown color with a medium head. Malts, fruits with hints of raisins dominate the aroma. Dark berries are on the forefront in the taste. Nice malt flavor with a smooth texture. A little sour and sweet. Aftertaste is light to mellow. Very nice.

In between a dark sweet Belgian strong ale and a porter in style, possibly because it's a fairly fresh bottle. Enjoyable for me because I like both styles. The sweet dark candied fruit taste mixed with the dark roasted malts & dry light bitter finish works somehow and creates quite a decent beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark brown with a thin/medium tan head, quickly receding. Ooh, interesting aroma - grape juice, prunes, lightly spiced? Thinner in body than I expected but also stiffer alcohol presence than I expected. Medium sweetness - plum, maple syrup(?); low/medium carbonation. Insistent cherry pit bitterness. With these beers, I always wonder if this would taste different/better under different circumstances, say e.g., at the brewery, as opposed (unfortunately) to having been transported across an ocean just to then bask in the 70F heat of my apartment for 2.5 months before I decide to drink it. As this bottle is, this comes off as decidedly simple and unrefined and a little heavy-handed on the alcohol; far from bad, but also far from great.
