A single hopped India Pale Ale to Explore the wonders of Sorachi Ace, a truly unique hop developed in Japan. Sorachi is famous for bringing distinct lemon citrus flavours, light floral notes, tea, dill, and even coconut to beer. This is a complex hop that is not for everyone but it certainly is for us.

On keg, but did smell a bit old initially, then as it warmed up, the sorachi influence came through on both the aroma and flavour. A good IPA, but not as good as the Brooklyn version.

Keg at craft beer co holburn. Hazed bright orange coloured pour with a lasting off white froth. Aroma is odd mix of sharp lemon citrus, little hot alcohol, dill, sandalwood. Not classic sorachi on the nose. Flavour is composed of spicy citrus lemon, hints of coconut, lime, light grains, little bready. Sharp and zesty lemon in the finish with a little wood tannin in the finish. Aggressive relatively clean hop bitterness. Palate is grainy, high carbonation, little spritzy, to drying finish. Sorachi ace seems to have changed a bit for the negative. Maybe this isn’t the vest showcase for this hop. Maybe a hint of Brett in this .

Bottle. Hazy bronze body with a thin white head. Faint lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, cat litter, Refreshers and flower petals. Flavour of dusty malts, lemon and tomato juice. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. A hefty 7.8% ABV but it’s very well disguised. Nice beer.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; hazy copper pour with a bubbly light tan head, aroma has caramel and mixed with crazy sorachi, taste has light biscuit, sorachi, pineapple chunks, stagnant carbs.

Bottle from Junkyard Nottingham. Wonderful flavour, hate using the word unique but this beer is. Lovely long after-taste with an easy drinking quality. At 7.4% you wouldn’t know. Yum!
