COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Milk Stouts are brewed with sugar from cow’s milk to give the beer a sweet, creamy tone. Bristol breweries were once famous for making the best milk stouts around. For our take on the traditional recipe we’ve used copious amounts of chocolate malts and laced it with vanilla to create a milkshake rich, velvety and satisfying dark beer.

MALTS • Maris Otter Pale, Chocolate, Crystal, Roast Barley, Torrefied Wheat.
HOPS • Phoenix

500ml bottle from beerhive. Pours murky brown, short-lived beige head. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, light vanilla. Taste is sweet and roasted biter at the same time. Bit of a clash as the flavours seem disparate, not coming together well for me. Treacle, fudge, cocoa powder on the finish. Not for me.

Bottle @ THT February. Pours a black beer with a big beige head on top. Aroma is coffee with milk, some creamy touches and some toffee. Flavor is slightly buttery and sweetish, loads of caramel cream, toffee fudgey and quite nice! The coffee gets back in the end of the flavor. A bit undercarbonated, but a minor flaw in a nice beer.

Bottle @ The Hague Tasting. Hazy dark brown to black color, medium sized off-white to beige head that lasts for quite a while and leaves good lacing. Aroma is malts, a touch of roast, a slight hint of chocolate, caramel, a hint of bitter. Taste malts, some chocolate, a hint of vanilla, slightly bitter. Decent body and carbonation.

50cl bottle shared @THT. Thin creamy tan head. Clear burgundy pour. A bit sweet. Some vanilla. I was nicely surprised by this.

500ml bottle. both from oddbins in clapham and favourite beers cheltenham. this is great stuff. pours very dark brown with brown head. aroma is cocoa, chocolate and vanilla. does what it says on the tin. so chocolatey. only beer i can think of this is similar to is sam smiths organic choc stout. but i think i prefer this and will now rerate that. this is not quite so sickly sweet and so it’s a little more drinkable. i find this very easy drinking but this type of very cocoa/chocolate rich sweet stout is an acquired taste.

Bottle at home. Pours a murky dark brown with a very thin off white head - shame it didn’t generate more of a head. Aroma is OK - wood, coffee, choc all in small doses. Light to medium body, little carbonation. Bitter choc, lemon, hint of vanilla, light treacle... Lifeless and a bit thin... More porter-like and little sweetness coming through. Despite that, OK.

Bottled, 500ml from S.H Jones in Banbury. Very dark chestnut with cream head. Mid bodied beer with a pleasant counterbalance between darkly roasted malts and a sweet, lactic, chocolate character. Pleasantly smooth, hints of vanilla. Pretty good.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. Malt: Maris Otter Pale, Munich, Chocolate, Crystal, Wheat, Roast Barley, Oats; Hops: Challenger, Bramling Cross; IBU: 20. This black-dark brown coloured beer pours without a head. It has sweet chocolate, vanilla and liquorice flavours followed by a creamy milk chocolate finish. Excellent!
