Milk Stouts are brewed with sugar from cow’s milk to give the beer a sweet, creamy tone. Bristol breweries were once famous for making the best milk stouts around. For our take on the traditional recipe we’ve used copious amounts of chocolate malts and laced it with vanilla to create a milkshake rich, velvety and satisfying dark beer.

MALTS • Maris Otter Pale, Chocolate, Crystal, Roast Barley, Torrefied Wheat.
HOPS • Phoenix

500 ml bottle. The second batch (4.8%) from this interesting new Bristol commissioner wannabe brewery. Nicely balanced between soft, lush and silky, like a proper milk stout but lacking roastiness and could wear a bit more hop. Obvious lactose – a little too sweet. Reminiscent of early days American efforts no clone and promising.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Paul. Hazy deep brown beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry. Modest carbonation. Light malt with touches of vanilla and chocolate powder. Light finish. Not really hitting it’s ibjective but pleasant enough.

Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, thanks to Paulo, 12/06/14. Dark mahogany brown with a moderate beige swirl/covering. Nose is light roast, lactic tang, mineral notes, milk chocolate. Taste comprises milk chocolate, light vanilla, faint roast, lactic rinse, dark fruit. Fairly light body, thin palate, watery, light dryness in the close. Ok - a little wishy washy, not one to return to.

Scopey (6711) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 12, 2014
Bottle shared at Bruce’s. It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The nose is sweet, roasty, creamy, vanilla milkshake, cocoa and earth. The taste is bitter-sweet, roasty, toast, milk chocolate, vanilla, mild acidity and cola with a dry, earthy finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. A touch thin if truth be told. Smells pretty good, but body doesn’t deliver.
