COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tume Pühadeõlu
Christmas Goat is in Viru Õlu beer assortment for the second winter. It is a dark Christmas brew, alcohol consistency 6,0%. Christmas Goat was a part of old Estonian Christmas masquerade. Originally, on the secnd day of Christmas, people dressed into different characters to demand food and gifts from neighbours and bring luck to the generous ones. Like in all Scandinavia, Goat´s character (Yule Goat) used to be the most popular. Till today, Christmas Goat has remained a symbol of Christmas. Figures made of straw are used for decoration purposes.

Bottle from Solaris, Tallinn. Ruby with a falling beige head. Black cherry aroma with hints of rye bread and liquorice. Simplistic malty taste; malt loaf, cherry and liquorice with faint undercurrents of Bovril and Baltic saltiness. Easy to drink, without any glaring faults. Unconvincing.

500 ml bottle. From Estonia. Courtesy of FatPhil.
Clear dark ruby red colour with off-white head. Malt, bread and rye in aroma. Flavour is very malty, not very Bock-y though. Some roastiness too. Thin and boring.

(Bottle, 0,5l, courtesy of FatPhil) The beer poured dark reddish brown. Head was medium sized and white. Aroma had sweetness, raisin and mildly roastedness. Palate was quite light bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, sweetness, metallicness, mildly roastedness and quie low bitterness. Aftertaste was mild and sweet. Quite weak brew.

(Bottle. Thanks to SaintMatty) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with caramel, dark bread, dried fruit, wort, red berries and hints of cinnamon. Malty nose with notes of caramel, wort, raisins, dried fruit and a slightly spicy finish with medium bitterness and some sweetness. More than medium body. Solid and well made, quite decent winter bock.

Bottle. (thanks SaintMatty) Dark red color with small beige head. Malt, dried fruit, a bit sweet, not much of Christmas spices. Mouth feel was thin and there were traces of cardboard in the taste.
