Bottle from a trade with Cunningham. Lots of grassy Saaz hops in the aroma, with a subtle addition of Amarillo citrus. There is some toasted malt in here but Saaz hops reigns supreme. Same goes for the flavour - while the body is robust in a marzen manner, the finish is very bitter, with an aftertaste of grass and hay. Saaz marzen? I like that!

[Thanks to Cunningham]. 33cl bottle. Orangish colour with a nice beige head, creamy, good lasting and nice lacework. Aroma is hoppy, orange, fresh and malty. Flavour has a good maltiness, bittery at the beginning with citrus and orange notes, and a final maintaining a decent bitterness. Carbonation and body are medium.

Amber red, tanned head. Smells of dust, caramel, hints of other hops. Light sweet, quite dry and crisp. Moderate bitter finish, some dust and grass. Totally my opinion of this beer can be described as this.... Where the f%#%& is the amarillo?

Bottle at home. The colour is golden amber with a medium off-white head. Aromas of leather, wood, wild berries and caramel. More leather in the flavour along with oak, sweet malt and grass. Reminds me a bit of a pilsener. Has a soft and rich mouthfeel, and a medium bitterness. Easy-drinking and tasteful, and quite bitter beer.

Clear copper body with a quite large, creamy, off-white head that is very long-lived: it takes a long time before the head settles as a thick layer that laces the glass well. Moderate aroma that is mainly malty and sweet with caramel and pale malts. According to the label this is supposed to be hopped with Saaz and Amarillo (is this another version than the test brew from 2009?), but I don’t get any US hops notes. I hardly get any hop notes at all, to be honest. Some faint sweet fruity notes with hints of citrus, perhaps. Light sweet taste with a moderate but quite sharp bitter finish. The caramel sweetness partially tames the sharpness. In addition to the caramel, the flavours include fruits and some metal. Medium body, moderate to soft carbonation. Not that interesting.

No head retention at all, really... Not much aroma, some toasty/bready aromas if any. Smooth palate with mild herbal, spicy and slight citrus. It’s okay i guess, as a thirst quencher. Nothing i’d drink a lot of.

Pours amber rose with a small and quickly dissipating off white head. Aromas of crystal malt, a little metallic. Nice healthy maltiness in the mouth, some dried fruit and caramel. Some bitterness at the end. Nice beer, but needs more malty concentration.
