Thomas Berglund - Svenska Dagbladet

Tydlig maltrostad ton med inslag av kaffe och rostade mandlar.

Utpräglad karaktär av mörkrostad malt med inslag av choklad samt en lång efterbeska.

Bottle at our elite tasting. Clear very dark colour. Very rich aroma and flavour. Lots of caramel, toffee, light smoked malts, lots of roasted, ashy and chocolate. Rather dry. Very good.

(Draught at Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm) Dark brown colour, almost black, with lasting beige head. Roasted, malty nose with cocoa, dark chocolate, coffee and hints of smoke. Roasted, malty taste with notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, creamy coffee and hints of smoke and tobacco. Dry finish with a generous, roasty cocoa bitterness. Medium body, dry. Very nice and highly drinkable stout.

Tap (served in a tall fine glass). Almost black body, with a nice lasting beige creamy head. Light sweet roasted malty aroma. Well balanced flavour. Dry, light sweet. Coffee and hints of red berries. Not too heavy, easy drinking, with a relatively low ABV. (Glenfiddich Warehouse, Stockholm, 04.07.2011)

Draught at Bishops Arms, Järntorget Göteborg. Dark brown colour with a persistent head. Milk up front in aroma, followed by malty toastiness. Texture is pretty creamy with toasty notes along with juniper berries and a subtle milky backbone. Coffee in the finish. The beer is more fruity than the regular dry stout and that adds to the character. Long lingering balanced bitterness.

Keg at Ardbeg Embassy, Stockholm. Pours black-brown-red with a mocha-tan foam cap. Dark, toasty malt nose, burnt leaves, earth. Light sweet flavor with lots of dry, charred malts, gritty toast, soil, dirt, minerals and burnt grass bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Quite dry and bitter to finish, with rich charcoal, dark earth, dry cocoa, faint coffee grinds. Pretty gritty. Not bad. Nice charred wood notes, dustry cocoa.
