Bottle, 75 cl. Clear reddish amber with a small beige head. Quite hoppy nose for a barley wine. Notes of berries, passion fruit, greasy hops, caramel, booze. Sweet, but not too sweet, with yeasty accents and a spicy, hoppy finish. Well balanced.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of joergen. Pours a caramel coloured with a small off-white head. Sweet caramel and coconut aroma, perhaps blackcurrant - any Sorachi Ace in there - or Nelson Sauvin? Medium-bodied only, caramel, a slightly oaky woodiness with some late bitterness and a little alcohol. Nice alright if not exactly a BIG beer. 031212

[keg, SBWF2012] Coppery brown colour, with an off-white head. Very woody on the nose, almost estery. Sweet fruits on the aroma as well, earthy bitterness. You can tell it’s aged in brand new oak barrels, tastes very young and green with the sharp woodyness. But there’s sweet, rich caramel in there to balance it out a bit. More of the ester as well, and some alcohol. Needs a bit longer to fully mature, but is still pretty good, even now
