muzzlehatch (4425), Burlington, Vermont, USA Dec 7, 2004 Dec 2004, Swedish dregs, Alts etc tasting w/MartinT, tiggmtl and Rastacouere #4. 500 ml bottle. Coconut-vanilla-banana-creme pie in a bottle! Hazy light gold, lots of creamy topping...late flourish of spices (pepper and cinnamon) in this wonderful pie aroma...awesomely creamy, luscious body...very smooth, light effervescence, semi-sweet but with enough dry pungent spices to create a masterwork. My new favorite hefe and the best-of-show for me from this tasting. pilsnerrogge (1589), Finspång, Sweden Dec 13, 2004 Brown/orange murky colour. Thick, white head, looks like ice-cream. Refreshing banana and citrus aroma. Mouthfilling yeasty toffee-flavour. Dry hazelnut-bitterness in the finish. A very wonderful Hefeweisen indeed. tiggmtl (4181), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Dec 7, 2004 Lemon-coconut-banana-creampie aroma with plenty of subdued spices that creep out as it warms. Pale straw coloured opaque body with generous cover of dense white head that recedes slowly with some lacing. Flavour also is predominantly citrus, banana and coconut with a tart finish and plenty of thick malted wheat character. Body is gorgeous and creamy thick with very soft carbonation. Bottle enjoyed with MartinT, muzzlehatch and Rastacouere. Thanks, Per! Rastacouere (5283), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Dec 5, 2004 Great cloudy yellow pour. Huge foamy white head recedes to a light cover. Totally opaque. Very interesting nose. The best weizen aroma I’ve smelled, full of nuances. Big crust flavor, very sweet bananas and cloves, but also more appealing cinnamon and spiciness. It feels a bit like raw lemon grains were added, though not obstrusive. Even notes of coconut and almond paste. Quite decadent. Rather tart in mouth, bready or pancake reminiscent yestiness. Not so intense on bananas as most, it’s more of a complement here. Long spicy finish. Superb mouthfeel, a thick body, subtle and well elaborated with a crisp and biting carbonation. Excellent, my favorite hefeweizen as of now, I sure didn’t expect it to be out of Gotland! I’m surprised to see other people have not liked it more. Cheers Per! MartinT (4345), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Dec 6, 2004 A meringue of citrus fruit, coconuts and lactic coriander sits proud and wiggly atop a portly body...Hay bitterness and underlying spiciness also tread amongst this sweet dessert weizen...An unforeseen treasure found hits deeper into the adventurous psyche...Thanks Per!!...
