A wheat bear from Gotland, made according to the Bavarian brewing tradition. Brewed inside the ancient walls of Wisby.

Classic hefeweizen. Could have had more of a banana taste to it but still drinkable.

Pours a hazy light yellow. Nose has banana with hints of citrus. A balanced malt and hops combo. A long, mild after taste with citrus.

Tons of coriander seed in the aroma. Anna gets some lemongrass too. Wheaty and sweet. Tons of toffee in the taste, banana wheatiness. Refreshing palate, crisp carbonation, perhaps too crisp. Finish is even more toffee-ey. Nice characterful weisse, but a little lacking in body.

(500mL bottle from Systembolaget) Typical cloudy medium yellow hefe from what I could see in dim light, fairly small white head for the style without lace. Aroma banana ester, yeasty spice notes, bit of bubblegum sweetness, touch of wheat grain. Flavour pretty by the numbers, moderate banana ester, slightly lemony citrus quality, wheaty, lightly sweet, touch of yeast spice, grainy on the finish and slightly bitter. Lighter body, sort of soft but soda pop-ish carb. An okay hefe but nothing to write home about, though this was hyped to me by a German I’d take a Weihenstephaner or Schneider any day.

Ljusgul lätt grumlig vätska med liten vit krona. Doften är klassisk för typen. Smaken är snäll men något obalanserad. Smakar nästan drar lite åt trappist. Inte jättebra.

Draught @ St. Michael, Oulu. Quite typical pale yellow hefe looks. Aroma is sweet and very citric with wheat and hops. Flavour is also on the sweet side, again with much citrus. Refreshing and tasty.
