A wheat bear from Gotland, made according to the Bavarian brewing tradition. Brewed inside the ancient walls of Wisby.

Hazy bright orange with a small white head. Typical yeasty banana estery aroma with phenolic band aid notes and grain. Quite sharp carbonation distracts an otherwise pleasant taste of raw grain, bubblegum, banana and tart fruit. Ends rather dry with some bitterness hanging around.

Tap @ Bishops Arm Stockholm. Fairly hazy golden orange appearance with a cream head. Fairly herbal, somewhat spicy, tangy orange, wheat malty aroma. Tangy, rich orange soda citrusy, nice bready, wheat malty flavor. Refreshing and tasty.

Bottle. Has a hazy orange colour with a big frothy off-white head. Nice aromas of fruits and banana, pale malt, hay and some yeast. More hay and pale malt in the flavour with only a hint of fruits, but also some citrus. Soft and smooth mouthfeel, with more bittnerness than expected. Smells good, but the taste feels a bit unbalanced. If you like a more bitter weizen, this is it.

Bottle @ hotel in Sweden, Stockholm. Completely hazy, dark yellow blond coloured beer with some light carbonation and a small white head. Looks pretty heavy. Slight wheaty fruity and herby touched aroma with some slight vanilla yeasty hints. Rather full palate. Finish is full herby fruity hinted (orange, banana) light wheaty sweet bitter touched. Rather heavy weizen, you would probably not drink a few of them but pretty decent taste.

Bottle from some random Vinmonopolet enjoyed at home
Orange hazy, medium big beige head. Smells of citrus and banana, yeast and wheat. Taste is quite wheaty, medium sweet, some reguar malts as well. Citrus and banana, some acids hidden. Subtile light bitter finish. Medium body, soft carbonation, watery texture. Quite enjoyable and refreshing, but of this style there are better ones and easier to get. I guess i’m not the one who buy this one again

Bottle. Pours a not too delicate hazy matt orange, with a finger thick head. Aroma is wheat/ hay, fruity with notes of pears and sweet apples and roasted malts. Flavour is honey, peach and orange which is obviously quite sweet, but still there’s a sour wheat-ish bitterness of hay which also lasts through the finish.

Bottle (50cl) from Vinmonopolet (Sjølyst), Oslo. Finger-thick white head, reduces fairly rapidly, settles as a thin film. Hazy, greyish orange colour. Aroma of banana, yeast, overripe/fermented pears. Slightly sweet, refreshing, fruity taste, balanced by citrus acidity and citrus zest and hop bitterness. Dry finish. Light/medium body, soft carbonation.

26.05.2012. 0,5l Bottle. Vinmonopolet Haugesund. Cloudy orange colour with white head. Very nice wheaty aroma with notes of citrus and banana. Or is it banana skins? Very smooth weisse with a gentle wheaty sweetness and hoppy flavours of summer and sun. Good lasting aftertaste.

50cl flaske fra Polet. Litt pepperaktig, skarp smak med noe citrus, banan og krydder. En grei nok hveteøl men kort ettersmak og kan ikke måle seg med f.eks Schneider Weisse Tap 5 i smaksrikdom.
