COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When Kirby Nelson was about to fire up the WBC kettles, he realized he needed a beer to drink while he was busy creating more beers. #001 is the result. A smooth lager with great flavor, a true “brewer’s beer.” Kirby should know; he’s had plenty. “For our first brew, I picked Williamette variety Hops from Gorst Valley for their woody, earthy flavor accents. They give this Amber a moderate richness, a nice depth of flavor and a great malt portfolio. This beer is really well-balanced. That makes one of us.”

Pours a nice light red/amber with a moderate head and decent lacing. Aroma is an equal mix of fruity hop bouquet and underlying hop sweetness. Taste is somewhat complex - malty, nutty, fruity and a slightly bitter hop finish. Palate is good. Overall, a nice amber that will definitely be a repeat for me.

Pours a nice amber color with off white head. Cereal grain mostly on the nose; follows onto the palate. Weird finish, can’t put my finger on it, but, really different.

Sample at the tap room. The beer pours a clear amber-gold color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, caramel and slight hops. Light body with flavors of earthy malt, caramel and mild grassy hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Average overall.

On tap at the local pizza place. Pours amber orange with a bit of a white head. Aroma is sweet malt, some earth and bread. Taste is malty with light fruitiness. A bit of breadiness and earth. Medium bodied. A tough of alcohol. Finishes sweetly malty. Shrug? Fine with the ’za. Better than Miller Lite. 12.2

Amber - what were you expecting? Nose of vegetal hops, toasty grain, cereal, and bttered popcorn. Flavor is well-toasted malt, cereal grains, and a flash of butter. Lingering buttered toast. Really dissapointing. Can’t believe Kirby is brewing this. Semi-slick palate.

[Tap] Sampled at the brewery. Pours a clear light shade of amber with a small amount of head. Sweet caramel in the taste and aroma. Mild grassy notes and biscuits too. Light in body. Clean, but not a ton going on here.
