THE BEER BARON (275), Wisconsin, USA Nov 27, 2001 Nice color. Nice bite to this beer. Overall a pretty good porter. kimcgolf (658), Dacula, Georgia, USA Aug 12, 2007 Updated: Aug 15, 2007Poured to a dark brown color with a hint of ruby, and a thick tan head that lingers well and leaves good lacing. Aroma is a pleasant blend of malted chocolate and roasted nuts. The flavor follows suit perfectly, adding a touch of honey flavor to the malt chocolate and nuts. This alll leads to a long, tasty and warming finish.
A very pleasant and enjoyable dark beer. The Friar99 (222), Wisconsin, USA Nov 27, 2001 drpimento (499), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA May 30, 2006 This score is inflated by the quality of dryness that I like in a malty beer so much. Beer is otherwise ok. Session beer, but Sam Adams is better. Bit over carbonated and thin. Decent nose and color. Had it on draft many times at Bodega downtown La Crosse, bottles too. beervana (782), Libertyville, Illinois, USA Feb 22, 2006 (02.18.06) Sampled at FebFest ’06, Libertyville, IL. Served from a 12 oz brown bottle. Pours clear dark brown with small off-white head and soft carbonation. Caramel and toasted malt aromas. Medium bodied that starts with light malt sweetness and distinctive toasted malt/vanilla flavors. Finishes dry with light malt fade. Very tasty malt flavors with no perceptible hop presence. I needed to sample this beer twice because I was certain that I was mistakenly served a sample of brown ale and not a porter. Though I am still not convinced that this is a porter, this beer is very tasty and enjoyable whatever style it is.
