COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black River Falls is in the heart of cranberry country, and this fall seasonal is a German ale brewed with real Wisconsin cranberries. Not your typical, sweet fruit beer, our Cranberry Special is well balanced with a refreshing tart finish.

Bottle with gooovikings in KC. Thanks Jetson! Clear, dark orange appearance with an off white. Tangy sweet, lightly tart cranberry, red fruity nose. Kind of watery, tangy, lightly tart, red fruity flavor. Bleh.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with CaptainCougar (thanks!). Sand Creek label. Poured a medium and hazy amberish color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of cranberries, grains, and fruits. Tastes of cranberries, berries, and sugary sweet.

Orange with a slight rosy hue. Smell is cranberry and waxiness, very similiar ot ng fruit beers. The flavor is tart, good cranberry, flaovr, light malt backing, light and refreshing. Not bad.

Bottled. Poured a clear, rose-tinted amber with a short cap of off-white head. Nose was odd... airy, dusty artificially-sweetened cranberries.. some sweet malt, too.. Flavor picked up husky, artificially-sweetened cranberry concentrate, pale malt, and some tartness around the tongue. Short, flat, and empty finish... almost creamy across the middle. There was nothing good that I got out of this one.

12 oz bottle courtesy of the infamous Binnys singles rack (Orland Park, Il). Pours a medium hazy amber pour with offwhite medium head that begins to dissipate. Aromas are tart cranberries, not sweet, with cereal maltiness and a touch of skunk. Initial is tart cranberries, light cereal sweetness, no earlier evident skunk in the brew. Light fruit sweetness, but largely a tart natural cranberry feel. Finish is more fruit apparent, leaves a touch of tartness and flavor in the aftertaste. Pretty good, surprisingly. Decent body, still light and sessionable. A little one dimensional. But, this is not as bad as people seem to think.

UPDATED: JUL 7, 2005 I like cranberries, drink the juice, eat the sauce... but thereís no trace of that fruit here. A dirty amber drink, flat, and nigh unto headless, this beverage has a berry aroma, but I donít recognize it. Itís sweet in a near cloying way and that sweetness overrides any other flavors that may be present. It finished with a saccharine-like coating of the tongue. My first and last of these...

Picked up single 12-oz bottle from Brennanís Country Farm Market in Brookfield, WI. Pours a clear reddish copper brew with a fast dissolving white head and dissipates clean. Aroma of some light fruity character, a touch of light white bread malt and that is about it. Taste is lightly carbonated, light to medium bodied, with just barely any tart berry flavor. Finish is quite watery, a hint of cranberry tart and after a few seconds, nothing. From being so close to the cranberry bogs of Tomah, this brew could use some more cranberry.

Got the bottle for a dollar at Samís in Chicago. A nice amber body with a thin head. Lots of bubbles clung to the side of the glass. Aroma is full and bready with a hint of mild cranberries. the taste is like Swisher Sweet cigars with some cherries. No cranberry in the flavor. Very sweet. This would make an alright summer beer.
