3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from bottle into a chalice
Appearance – The beer pours a light orange-tinted golden color with a one finger head of pure white billowy foam. The head has a great level of retention, with the big carbonation bubbles of the foam popping over time, leading to the head slowly fading to leave a decent level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is strong of a dry cracker smell mixed with a light fruity smell of grape, peach, and pear and a little bit of candied sugar as well as a hint of grass. Along with these smells comes some notes of a yeast along with a strong showing of coriander and clove, which with the cracker, really dominate the smell overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a drier cracker flavor along with a moderately strong showing of yeast and spice of clove and coriander, just as the nose would have suggested. As the taste advances to the middle, the spice and yeast grow even slightly stronger, but are nicely complimented by some sweeter flavors of candied sugar and fruit of a white grape, pear, and peach nature, with the cracker transitioning to a more bready like nature. While these sweeter flavors come, they later go, and end up bringing back the drier cracker taste. With some grassy flavors and a bit of a boozy alcohol coming to the tongue at the end, one is left with a drier and crisp triple like flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side with a carbonation level that is rather high. For the more dry nature of the brew, mixed with the light fruit and grassy flavors, the feel is quite fantastic as it mimics a more brut champagne like nature, with the flavors of the brew all matching these characteristics rather nicely.
Overall – This is a rather nice Belgian Strong ale that has the characteristics of a dry sparkling white wine, all while still having a nice cracker and yeast-spiced base to keep it of the Belgian beer style. A great one to try if you have the opportunity.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle given to me as a Halloween gift. The pour is hazy golden with a well formed one inch white head. The aroma is traditional Trippel nose, nice soft Belgian yeast, fruit esters, evident alcohol. The taste matches the nose, big yeast flavor, the fruit sweet malt was present as well as warming alcohol in the finish. The palate is medium to heavy bodied, heat in the finish. Solid version of a style I don’t normally go crazy about.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aromas of coriander, belgian yeast funk and green tea. Pours cloudy golden with huge white head that just stays .. forever. Taste is a classic Belgian. Yeast forward with noble hops and high abv masked well. High carbonation attenuates taste. For 2.98 ... can’t beat that.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Belgian ale introduced in 2009 and intended for export to the U.S., with a snow white, sticky head and orangey golden blonde colour. Aroma of citrus peel, bitter honey, unripe peach, vanilla, green hops, apple. Fresh fruity onset, applish, dried apricot, subtle citrus freshness, hint of vanilla, malt sweet backbone and floral hop bitterness in the finish. Better than most of the beers this brewery sells on the home market!

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
750ml bottle -
Just a few steps better than the last Beligan I had before this, I’m usually not a huge, huge fan of tripel’s and harsh, biting tripel’s like this usually don’t chage that. Aroma is winey, crackers, bready with some white grape juice and alcohol. Slighly phenolic as well. The carbonation seems to amplify the spicy character of this beer, and I’ve never been a fan of that particular flavor profile/mouthfeel combo. Citrusy, honeyish, burnt crackers and alcohol also show up. Decent, but I’m not really a fan of this Steenberge line-up of beers and....meh....pass.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml bottle. In the cellar for two years. Pours a clear gold with an off-white head. Honey, tart apple, caramel, light sultana raisin, and bready notes on the nose. Sweet with bitter mineral hops, candied fruit, sultana raisins, light orange peel, and light cognac-like notes that heads into dark bread notes, dried fruit, bitter hops that don’t quite synch up well with the sweetness, and a light clove note that lingers well into the finish.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Eh. Not my favorite tripel. A little on the muddled and sweet side of things. Nothing unpleasant but not nearly enough to take notice og in the style. Slight honey and cereal, and light belgian spice and a hint of twang."

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
750 ml bottle from LCBO(?), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
App.: Cloudy golden with a very full, rocky white head, good lacing.
Aroma: Quite boozy, stings a bit, fairly spunky citrus, some esters, somewhat spicy, I get a little diacetyl (I think...), moderate light malt character, sweet-smelling.
Palate: Medium+ body with fairly full effervescence, somewhat creamy.
Flav.: Strong alcohol, spicy, fairly estery, too much booze, stings, diacetyl comes though (I think...), light maltiness; off dry with low bitterness and a LOT of alcohol, finishes with some spiciness and esters and piles more alcohol.
WAY too boozy. Decent aromas/flavours.
