Tap @ Brewery: Black, black, more black, topped with a small sheet of khaki foam that recedes quickly to a timid collar. Aroma is a very subtle mixture of roast, cherry, bourbon, wood, & milk chocolate. Of all the Night Fury variants, this one has the mildest nose, but it’s very well put together, if that makes sense. Taste has lots of smooth bourbon out of the gate, never hot, with a follow-up of tannic oak, light reminders of ripe cherries, sweet milk chocolate, & perhaps a hint of vanilla. Cherry presence gets stronger & sweeter with time, inherits a mild syrupy aspect but never gets too sweet, tart, medicinal, or out of place. Tannins coat the palate with sweet milk chocolate covered cherries & faint bourbon in the aftertaste. A few people said this was too syrupy & sweet but I thought it was on-point. Though the bourbon presence isn’t quite to the Bourbon County level, this beer blows BCS Cherry Rye out of the water as far as barrel aged cherry stouts go.

Bottle shared with koleminer20, Gus, and others. Aroma is tart cherry, roasted malt, chocolate, barrel, booze. Appearance is black, light brown head, poured thin. Taste is tart and sweet cherry, lots of roasted malt, chocolate, this is good. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, light soft carbonation, cherry chocolate aftertaste. Overall, this is very well done.

Tap at Fury for a Feast. Huge aroma of bourbon soaked cherries with some light chocolate and coffee too. Tastes the same. Not medicinal at all like some cherry bourbon beers. Moderately sweet. Cherry fades on the back end leaving vanilla, chocolate and light bourbon. Loved it.

Best of show for the 2015 Fury fest. Lots of cherry, adding some sweetness, plenty of chocolate and bourbon to back it up.

Cherry toffee aroma with slightest gentle coffee. Appears dark, nearly opaque brown, like coffee. Taste is very rich, sweet caramel and coffee but balanced with bitter roast/slightly burnt campfire marshmellow. Light, but a little oily texture. Overall, very good.

Draft to plastic 5 oz glass at Fury for a Feast. Looks good; a slightly translucent dark cola with thin beige lacing. Smells of dark malt, chocolate, sweet cherry, and oak. Tastes like it smells with a full-bodied mouthfeel. Another great variant!

On tap: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate covered cherries with light vanilla, bourbon, and a hint of oak. It’s a dark brown with no transparency and a small tan head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate covered cherries. The cherry flavor builds in the finish and mixes with some light spice, espresso, vanilla, and light bourbon. It’s medium-full bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Overall, one of the better cherry stouts I’ve had.

From notes. On tap at Witch’s Hat on March 17. The pour is jet black with zero head and just as much lacing. The aroma is a little disappointing, per the name. There is a strong vanilla and bourbon presence on the front of the nose, and a bit of chocolate from the midpoint on, but there is very little cherry character to it, which I found a little disappointing. The flavor has a hint of cherry on the front end, but the bourbon and vanilla drown it out. The mouth feel is thick, creamy, with a small amount of carbonation, and there is a little cherry on the dry aftertaste.
