3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy molasses, moderate chocolate, black licorice, and a touch of espresso. It?s a dark brown with no transparency and a two finger tan head that eventually fades to a thin film outlined by a thicker ring. There is a thin sheet of lacing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate-heavy molasses and moderate chocolate. The finish has light-moderate pine, espresso, and anise. It?s medium-full bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Overall, a little heavy on the molasses for my preferences.

Sweet coffee and toffee up-front then transitions into a dark/deep stout. Fairly strong and alcohol really shows on the back-end.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Sean - thanks! Silky black pour with no head. Chocolate, toffee, and noticeable molasses in the aroma. Taste is rich chocolate and fudge with caramel (literally, candy caramel), molasses, darker plum, and some alcohol burn into the finish. Some hop bitterness as well. Coasting mouthfeel. Semi-rough but nicely done. Good beer.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From notes. On tap at Witch’s Hat on March 17. The pour is black with a dark khaki ring of head and decent lacing. The lace is a little surprising for a beer with such little head. The aroma is a little sweet on the front end. It fades through, and is a little bitter on the back. There is a strong licorice presence with light notes of chocolate, roast, and some coffee. The flavor is is a bit different. It’s got more of a licorice dominance with a booziness that kicks up on the back end. The mouth feel is thick. creamy, with a light carbonation and a good dry and bitter aftertaste.

3.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
At first sip. Tons of coffee. Malty then a bit of bitter dark chocolate. Full bodied mouthfeel, extremely viscous for a beer. Not much to the aroma. Sweetens as the beer warms up, very nice. Pitch black, with just a little chocolate cream color foam lining the glass.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at the brewery. Pours a near pitch black color with nearly no head. Decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is a bit faint. Mostly roasted malt with hints of chocolate, alcohol, and black licorice. Taste is pretty smooth, a bit sweeter than most imperial stouts. Alcohol taste is a bit too prevalent. Medium mouthfeel, somewhat chewy. An ok imperial stout.
