2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Noctilucus (97) - All over Belgium, BELGIUM - JUN 28, 2012
Rather deep brown with a red copper hint, topped by a beige head, actually quite good looking.
A nose of earthy spices, sandy, not all that pleasant.
The taste is a mix of slightly sour and refreshing with some hop bitterness, a bit watery or weak. The aftertaste is smoother and shows a touch of that earthiness, as well as an alcoholic glow that contrasts nicely with the taste. In fact I like the aftertaste more than the actual taste, even if it’s more typical (less original) for a Dubbel. Medium-low carbonation.
