Poured into tulip a hazy lager colored gold with white head and nice bubble play. Aroma is an interesting yeast, malt, cereal with a pepper note. Taste is bready with yeast. Finish is dry and peppery. Head goes to sides of glass quickly and little to no lace of any kind. Interesting and enjoyed.

33 cl bottle at home. Pours a deep golden yellow with a large white head. Aroma of fresh cereal and slight peppery hop. Taste is sweet to start with a light bitterness. Lively on the tongue, rich mouthfeel of wet grain. Dry finish. A very pleasant beer indeed, rich and satisfying.

Classic abbey tripel, historically linked to Westmalle (the monk on the label depicts a Westmalle trappist monk), even called ’trappistenbier’ before that designation became protected by law. Cream white, dense, thinnish but stable head, pure golden blonde colour, almost clear. Aroma of restrained malt sweetness, grassy hops, raw rhubarb, celery, white pepper, green apple peel, abbey cheese, honey. Smooth, dryish malty taste, subdued applish fruitiness, medium carbo, ending in a peppery hop bitterishness through which a certain, very subtle kind of saltiness pierces. Also tasted at 20 years of age at the Kulminator, my first ever encounter with aged beer, so this remains something special to me. That older version was of course heavily oxidized, but also notably sweeter and less dry than the young version described above.

Il dolce all’imbocco è pronunciato. Ancora zucchero candito, miele d’acacia, qualche leggera pera e albicocche sciroppate.

Good yeast notes and slight citrus, I believe, and isn’t excessively foamy when poured. Is that coriander? Quite nice tripel.
