3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
My rating does not conform to my peers. I found this brew to be delicious. The beer is a cloudy light amber with a frothy white head. The aroma has clove, banana, Belgian spice and fruit. The flavor follows without the sugary sweetness dome of this style have. The finish is dry and refreshing.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 12, 2014 Hazy yellow colour. Peppery, yeasty aroma. Low carbonation and quite a thick, rich feel. Flavour is wheaty and sweet but with a slighty tangy edge to keep it fresh.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Big blue 750ml bottle, shared by Katie and Katie. Totally hazy orange color. Thin white head. Wheat, mostly. Little Belgian yeast. Coriander, just a bit of orange zest. Light carbonation. Little sweet zestiness. Not bad, but not great. Sugary sweet, and kind of malty.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Refrigerated 75 cl bottle poured into a weizen glass. Pours deep translucent orange with yellow hightlights. Some big bubble lacing, heavy body, medium/well carbonated, and dry citrus aroma. Taste is heavy citrus (mostly orange), some coriander, and some spice. Quite a bit of flavor, but too hard to drink.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: very hazy under a white head which fades creamy and velvety, leaving a full collar and full head. Rose water hues. Slow stream of bubbles. Orange-rose, rose-orange.
Nose: pound cake and angel food cake sweetness – not cloying, subtle and sophisticated. Peach and apricot. Orangesicle, orange cream, and orange sorbet. Hint of ripe bananas along the edges. Powdered candied pineapple. Sourdough bread weaves in and out. Guava and aloe.
Palate: super soft – like a fleece. Dry orange skin finish, pith too. Orange sherbert and orangesickles. A tad thin. Creamy in the middle – orange glazed pound cake. Banana skin and spices with orange peel in the finish. Dry, parching, bitter, and pithy – compliments the sweetness of the higher ABV. Rose water and rose petals.
Final Thoughts: the original Wittekerke Wit is alright but a bit lacking in the overall oomph category for me. The Winter White Ale on the other hand is wonderful. Delicate and rich, sweet and dry, bready and spicy. Can’t wait to have it again come this winter.
