Sample at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 12/16/2011. This brew is a cloudy orange-amber color with a medium white head that burns away steadily to a wispy film. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of coriander, yeast and fruit. Medium body with a moderately tart fruit character and notes of bready malt, grass and sweet spices. The finish is fruity with a lingering yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

750 graciously shared by Anndiesel. Unfiltered, deep orange color. Big, foamy, off white head. Wheaty orange aroma. It’s a decent beer, more of a one and a half than a double. Decent beer, some orange-lemon-lime citrus tones. Almost like a Belgian version of a Bruery beer, if that makes any sense. Sugary. An OK beer, but at 9.99 a 750ml, it’s way overpriced.

750ml bottle: Aroma has got the coriander and orange tinge to it. Appearance is what it should be a cloudy orange with a thick white head that lingers. Taste is rather nice with the alcohol nicely hidden. Palate is somewhat dry with a citrus after taste. Overall, short review. And I liked it. Cheers!

Pours a cloudy apricot color with a thin, but stable and lasting white head. Aroma is clove, rock candy and yeast. Semi sweet yeast and bread flavor with some tartness, not much of the citrusy coriander flavors you might expect. Seems to be well balanced, just not gobs of flavor. alcohol warmth comes through at the end. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting ghetto here, but this is sort of a malt liquor version of Belgian ale.

Bottle (odd looking). Pours with a hazy golden hue and a somewhat quick to fade white head. Aromas are extremely floral, rose water, potpourri, estery, phenol, alcohol, grainy. Flavors are of clove, phenol, ester, alcohol, bready. A bit sweet. Floral. Finishes with an odd, nearly cedar like note. Strange beer. Medium carbonation. Alcohol makes it a touch flabby.

Cloudy orange color with offwhite head. Aroma has yeast and orange peel. Flavor has some orange with and odd chocolate quality. Hint of alcohol as well.

Tap. Pours hazy gold with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is biscuit, cereal, and meal malt, fruity esters, spices, and light citrus hops. Flavor is malt, fruity esters, light hops and bitterness and a dry finish. Medium body, warmth, and carbonation.

11 ounce goblet - $8.50 at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Clouded to the point of opaque murkiness with a dull, dark orange hue. 3/4 inch of pillow, white foam.

Smell: An aroma of fruity jelly supporting an odd herbal, flowery note mix, some underlying barley, and a drop of booze. It’s not exactly alluring, but, then again, neither is the soiled appearance.

Taste: Sugary breadiness with a bit of menthol herbaceousness. A bit of basic lemon and some noted florals, though the latter could be a lingering effect of the menthol quality upfront. A hint of stale orange peel slowly peeks out. Sweetish, fruity finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: I didn’t like the standard Wittekerke, I didn’t enjoy the Rosé variation, and now the Winter rendition.

Bottle. Have to agree with funkybrewster... need some more ’pop’. Pours a murky chalky orange yellow with little head. Aroma is fruity, orange, heavy coriander. Flavor follows, medium sweetness, no trace of alcohol really, but not a lot of definition, kind of gummy, fruity, yeasty.
