UPDATED: JAN 12, 2014 Hazy yellow colour. Peppery, yeasty aroma. Low carbonation and quite a thick, rich feel. Flavour is wheaty and sweet but with a slighty tangy edge to keep it fresh.

750ml Bottle: Faint aroma of wheat and orange. Poured orange in color with a loose, white head that disappeared quickly, but was later reconstituted by the carbonation. Cloudy. Very sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of wheat, orange, grain, corn, and citrus. Medium body. Oily, then lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Wheat, corn, husk finish is medium sweet and lightly dry. 7.5%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

Bottle. Pours hazy yellow with airy but stable white head. Clear aroma of yeast, hops, malt and banana. Sweet flavour of malt, banana, caramel, and alcohol. Fruity and floral notes towards the finish, which is rather bitter. High carbonation. OK but a rather boozy thing.

Poured as a witbier. Aroma of citrus, vanilla. Medium body, flavour as the aroma with a bit of spice to it.

11 ounce goblet - $8.50 at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Clouded to the point of opaque murkiness with a dull, dark orange hue. 3/4 inch of pillow, white foam.

Smell: An aroma of fruity jelly supporting an odd herbal, flowery note mix, some underlying barley, and a drop of booze. It’s not exactly alluring, but, then again, neither is the soiled appearance.

Taste: Sugary breadiness with a bit of menthol herbaceousness. A bit of basic lemon and some noted florals, though the latter could be a lingering effect of the menthol quality upfront. A hint of stale orange peel slowly peeks out. Sweetish, fruity finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: I didn’t like the standard Wittekerke, I didn’t enjoy the Rosé variation, and now the Winter rendition.

750 ml. Cloudy orange-golden body is quite active and sustains a creamy disc of foam. Aroma is lemon candy, bready yeast and touches of bitter florals and wood. Tastes of coriander, dried galangal, white grape must, and oxidized lemon. Dry finish has some cardboard, wood and wheat flour. Light-medium body is soft and has smooth carbonation.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 7/4/2014. Pours extremely hazy golden orange color with a nice 2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of orange, pear, apple, lemon, orange rind, apple skin, coriander, light banana, floral, wheat, bread, pepper, clove, and earthy yeast esters. Nice and pleasant aromas; with good balance and complexity of malt, spices, and yeast esters. Taste of pear, apple, orange zest, lemon, light banana, wheat, coriander, bread, honey, floral, light clove, and earthy yeast esters. Lingering notes of light fruits, citrus, wheat, coriander, light clove, bread, honey, and earthy yeast esters on the finish for a bit. Very nice balance and complexity of flavors; with a good malt/spice balance, but feels a bit toned down in flavor for 7.5%; with zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good high gravity witbier. Very nice balance and complexity of flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

The aroma is malty and yeasty with some citrus. The appearance is cloudy yellow with a small head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall very drinkable but not great.
