2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle purchased and consumed at Freising Train Station, Bavaria, best by 9/30/16, consumed Nov. 2015: Beaming golden. Stiff, fluffy foam. Defective nose of canned peas, decaying hay, fusel alcohol, jelly candy and DMS. Hint of flowery Hallertauer. Restrained carbonation leaves a foamy residue on the tongue. Soft lemony and floral hops are soon hushed by husky and simplistic pils malt. Light DMS gives a fuzzy vegetal characteristic which adds weight and muddles things. Soggy white bread and damp hay emerge from the sloppy malt. Prickly, indiscreet alcohol and rotting Red Delicious apple notes further mar things. Wet, soapy and paintlike finish shows a touch of flowers, but it’s quite dull and the malt remains rather limp and husky. Fairly dirty aftertaste of grain husks and metal. Very industrial and seems carelessly made.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A slight grain and hop aroma come from this crystal clear pale yellow brew with almost no head. The taste is sweetish and grainy with a very light body.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can 8 of the Costco Advent Calendar. I’m liking this a lot more than I thought I would, as several of the previous cans in this collection were underwhelming and this one was a gusher. Fairly prominent malt character, somewhat sweet taste with nicely bittered finish.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can 8 of Advent Calendar. Yeasty grain aroma. Yellow body with white head. Flavor is bitter and texture is rather mild. Easy on the plate not over malty for me with the style.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can from day 8 of the advent calendar. Pours a very clear golden color with a moderate light tan head on there. Nose has quite a bit of corn to it, with the classic lager smell. Taste is slightly sweet with a hint of earthiness. Nothing remarkable at all.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Mainly yellow 500 ml can labeled "Unser Original". It’s stamped on the bottom with a production date of July 2015 and a EXP(iration) date of Sept. 2016. 4.9% ABV
Appearance: pale golden body; clear and topped with a large, frothy white head that makes me think of whipped egg whites. The head is very durable and plenty of sticky white lacing is left on the glass.
Aroma: Lightly sweet; mix of mild malts and stronger, spicy hops; hints of biscuits and lemon.
Flavor: Lightly sweet. Spicy hops with lemon and hints of baked bread and caramel.
Light body and medium carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
This is a pretty solid Bavarian lager. It’s golden w/ a huge head. This is definitely very much bready malt forward w/ just a twinge of grassy hops. It’s nice and drinkable w/ fairly light body and vigorous carbonation. It finishes w/ some grassy bitterness in the finish. I am not strictly in love w/ the hop character on this but it is otherwise a good beer.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Rating #2198 - 2015.12.01 - Can #1 in the BeerAdvent Calendar for Costco. Clear, pale yellow pour with a weak white foam that fizzes away quickly. Aroma is toast, mild grass. Taste is mild floral hops, mild grainy, mild toffee sweet, and quite grainy on the finish, which is dry, but crisp. Mouthfeel is bubbly, but satisfying.
