4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 MartinT (6150) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 23, 2006
UPDATED: AUG 1, 2011 Impressions from the hof:
-Great bobbing foam recedes swiftly into the krug.
-Grapefruity, spicy, floral and herbal hops form a seductive perfume and flavor profile.
-Grassy, peppery hop bitterness surveys the back of the tongue for quite a while.
-The refined, silky honeyed malts are perfectly balanced by the engaging hoppiness.
-Active, but soft carbonation serves the delicate body well.
-The most tasteful, süffig of Franconian lagers. A true masterpiece of drinkability.
Bottles, at the brewery, at Café Abseits, and back home.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Rastacouere (5900) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 11, 2006
Here’s to a remarkably pure light golden color that shines despite its haze and produces a perfect rocky, large white head. Generous yeast/hop interplay greets the nose with delicate hay touches blending in dry typically german floral aromatics and a light earthy background. Balance completed by typical bright zesty lemon/grapefruit notes. Superb example, more or less what a wallonian belgian pils, pseudo-saison should aspire to, beauty in simplicity. Foamy, expansive carbonation manages to remain unagressive while almost easing the already ridiculously easy-going quaffable character. Wondrous ending leaves us with a pinch of pepper that begs for further study.

bottle, received from pivnizub - thank you so much! - golden yelow, slightly hazy, perfect head, creamy and long-lasting. Hoppy nose. Hoppy and malty flavours, perfectly balanced, bitter-sweet character, lovely hops. Lovely carbonation. Long lasting aftertaste. This is fantastic, I think I could drink gallons of it!
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Oakes (10009) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 14, 2009
Slight hazy with light carbonation. Gold body. Fresh, with very juicy hop character. Slight toastiness on the nose with light yeast. Very refreshing, balanced brew. Toasty, hoppy, goes down instantly...great example of the Franconian country style.

Thanks for the hopjuice pivnizub!
Strong grassy and perfumed hop nose. Cludy yellow, huge lacing white head, quite a bit pressure behind it. Grassy herbal and citric hops in the foreground of the taste as well, light grain in the center, then quickly off to a aromatic grassy finish. Light yeasty fruityness, then grass again. Medium to light sparkly body, the bubbly champagne mouthfeel fits the aromatic light brew. Excellent!
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Koelschtrinker (6546) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - MAY 1, 2011
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 MoritzF (7137) - Bochum, GERMANY - JUN 26, 2006
(bottle, with many thanks to pivizub !) Slightly hazy golden colour with a fluffy and stable white foam. Aromatic soft sweet malty aroma with notes of citrus and flowery hops. Bitter flavour with a late arriving sweetness, medium body, crispy carbonation. Soft malty, citrusy taste with well balanced floral and herbal hops; dry and elegant bitter finish with a lingering sweetbitter aftertaste. Superb !
