3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Golden colour. The head is alive, like blasting missiles into the surface of the moon. Herbal, slightly fruity hop nose. There’s a hint of buttery but with good herbal notes and clean, fresh bready malts.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft @ brewpub. Bright gold. White thick alive head. Aroma is really fresh grain. Great quaffability with minerals on the tongue. Great vollbier balance, sweeter than kellerbier, has a nice hop but a stunningly strong grain background. Nutty, dry, delicious.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at the brewpub. Clear deep golden, creamy head. Pleasant aroma of grassy hops and floral perfumy malt. Medium bodied with soft mouthfeel. Pleasant bitterish finish. Typical Franconian lager with it soft edgelessness and superb drinkability.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(draught at the brewpub) Clear, golden colour with a big and dense foamy white head. Light-sweet, straw malty nose with herbal hops and a touch of barnyard. Bitter and slightly sweet flavour; malty, slightly strawy taste with herbal hops from the beginning; light to medium bodied with a crispy carbonation and a fresh mouthfeel; dry and moderately bitter finish with noticeable hops character. Refreshing and pleasant Helles with rural character.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Clear golden with a medium lacy/fluffy white head. Malty aroma, lightly sweet, hint of veggie/corn (but not of the adjunct variety). Simple, straightforward malty taste, lightly herby wth an even lighter spicey/floral sweetness. Touch of grain. Hop profile makes me think of slightly easterly lands. Absurdly well-balanced with a delicious pale malty aftertaste. Smooth feel. This would be a fantastic session for everyday drinking. Thanks to pivnizub!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Impressions from the hof:
-Golden clarity benefits but from a veil of head.
-Fresh cereal and caramel politely entice.
-Effervescent carbonation is still softer than the usual gassed up lager, but evokes a frail body in this particular case.
-Simple-minded maltiness is still effective.
-Finishes softly, with whispering hop bitterness.
-This doesn’t evoke Franconian lagers at all, strangely enough.
On tap at the brewery.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle, bought at the brewery. Golden color, lasting creamy head. Malty, vaguely vegetable aroma. Malty flavor. For a helles a firm flowery hoppiness. Just a touch of sweetness. A hint of sulphur. Bitter aftertaste with boiled milk. Maybe this beer just doesn’t travel well.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 31, 2008 From the tap (at the brewery): Golden coloured, medium-sized fluffy head, herbal hoppy aroma; initial sweetish fruitiness, malty flavour, replaced by a bitterness, which gives a dry hoppy finish; very well balanced, well rounded: the malty body and the fine hoppiness go together very well..........
