This copper-coloured session bitter is packed full of flavour, particularly in the hop character. The aroma is overflowing with apricot and warm orange with a hint of caramel and peach coming through faintly. There’s some caramel and fruit from the malt and very light roast in the initial taste but this rapidly gives way to a dry, straw hoppy and slightly astringent but full flavour. The aftertaste builds and emphasises bitterness and the slightly earthy hops come through even more. If you’re looking for a hoppier bitter which still retains a good balance with the malt, this is the one for you.

Bottle. Deep copper ale with a fairly steady creamy white head. Nose is buttery, with a touch of sweet caramel and some light peachy fruit. Initially the taste is roasty and caramel, but soon gives way to a bitter hop with some nice dryness to it. Finish is dry, bitter with a nice smattering of maltiness. Quite standard, but you really can’t knock it.

Cask at The Cleveland Arms, London. Pours clear, pure gold with a small, creamy white head. Doughy malts in the nose with definite diacetyl. Light to medium sweet flavor, doughy, lightly buttery, some mild straw bitters. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Light sweet finish, a good deal of buttery biscuits and bread. A bit off in terms of condition it seems.
