Cask at Christian Firtal. Brown with a small off-white head. Fruity aroma with biscuit malt and a faint touch of smoke. Sweetish malty flavour with a bit of smoke mixing with more yeast-like phenols. Slightly roasted finish

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 26 Nov 2011) Dark brown colour with hints of ruby. Frothy beige head. Roasted, malty nose with chocolate, coffee, hints of smoke and dried fruit. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dried fruit, coffee, hints of smoke and a slightly bitter-sweet finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Quite tasty and complex, with subtle smoke hints lingering in the background. Nice one.

Cask at the John Logie baird (JDW), Hastings. Deep golden chestnut with a compact cream head; aroma of smoke and roasted nuts; slightly acrid smoke flavour with some ashy malts; then a clean, dry, woody finish. Not unpleasant, but not my kind of thing.
