Notes from my backlog: Deep bronze/amber pour with a tan film of head. Toasted dark caramel aroma- clean and rounded mouth feel. Rounded body with a sour dough note in the flavor- dark caramel yet toasted and dry with a light noble hop note in the finish. Pretty good.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye back in 2010. The look is amber in color with an ok beige colored head. The smell is bready, wheat, sweet, and fruits. The taste is grain, bready, wheat, and sweet.

Hazy dark pour with a thick, collapsing beige head. Sweet caramel aroma. Dark fruits and toasty malt flavor.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!

Decent bock. Very malty flavor and aroma. Some sugary burnt sweetness. Thins at the end. Serving: Bottle

Test vom 17.3.2010, Gebinde: Glasflasche

Koelschtrinker (10836) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 11, 2011
Mild dunkelmalziger Antrunk, etwas herb, kaum würzig. 8/8/8/8/12/8
Earlier Rating: 5/1/2011 Total Score: 2
Eindimensionaler Bock.

0.5 l bottle. Dark reddish brown color. Sweet malty, bready and worty aroma. Sweet dark bread flavor with herbal-woody bitterness, toffee, licorice, burnt sugar and some higher alcohols.

(500ml bottle) Pours a clear amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of toasted grain, vinous, raisins, nuts, caramel, cookie dough, and some chocolate. Flavor of raisins, toasted grain, raisins, and chocolate.

Pours deep mahogany into a shaker. Off-white head with good retention slowly recedes to coat surface. Roasted nuts and cardboard aromas. Thin and soft with sweet roasted caramel and nuts with slight cardboard in the lasting finish. Perhaps this one has a little too much age on it...but bought it fresh.
